Are you kidding me?
I just spent the evening with a group of people. The majority of which were Republicans and Conservatives. The news of bin Laden was welcomed with nonpolitical joy. Even when we all watched our President's speech, we were silent and tearful. We toasted the widows, widowers, orphans, families and friends of those who lost loved ones on 911. I came here afterword to celebrate with my fellow Democrats. What did I find? Heartless, selfish, self-righteous, arrogant pagentry. It had nothing to do with the moment. It had everything to do with a personal faux agenda. I'm sick of this. I only came here because Talking Points Memo updated their damned web site and I couldn't access if from my ancient work computer. I regret every moment.

Get over yourselves and put your asses in the position of those I mentioned. Stop being so fucking self-righteous that you can't see the moment of peace that this has given to thousands, possibly millions. Your agenda will be there tomorrow. Tonite, give us a moment to cry tears of joy, tears of sorrow for what we've lost in the interim. But, you won't. You'll attack this post just like you do all of the others. You need to complain, to scream about the injustice that you, yourselves, don't suffer. You'll continue to rant about things you have no real stake in.

I'm getting out of here for now. I'm going to cry some more, wait for my son to return my call, and celebrate with my husband. Most of all, I'm going to pray for those left behind. Those that find no closure, no peace or justice...but, maybe, they'll find a bit of joy in the death of this man.

Good nite, all. I wish you all peace.

that there aren't political boundaries in the celebrations I'm seeing on TV. I'm elated, and I have a feeling so are people who have opposite political views.

16. "Elated?" Really? I take grim satisfaction, and the political bounce that the Prez will get...
...will be well deserved and very valuable. But I just can't be "elated" about the deliberate death of a fellow human being. ANY human being.

15. The thing is
I can also put my ass in the place of all the people that we've wrongfully imprisoned, tortured, and killed over the last decade. I can put my ass in the place of all the people in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan who've lost loved ones to our bombs and guns and drones. I can put my ass in the place of all the American families who lost a son or daughter or wife and husband in all this war.

We're all humans. We all have a stake in the lives of every other human. We all suffer from every injustice.

21. Think of it this way. The wicked witch is dead and we are all munchkins.
His death is a load off our minds.

And what a terrible public relations ambassador he was for Islam viz-a-viz what civilized people of the world are willing to have and accept of it.

This is an absolute good and can be rejoiced in by humanity on many levels.

24. I celebrate BECAUSE I "see the moment of peace that this has given to thousands, possibly millions"
If that pisses you off, I am sorry for you. If you don't understand that, I am very sorry for you.

"Those that find no closure, no peace or justice...but, maybe, they'll find a bit of joy in the death of this man." Yes. But "get over yourselves"? wtf are you talking about?

25. What are you talking about?
This is a terrible day for this country in many ways. Our military is never going to leave the middle east and our politicians and media are going to push the idea that America can and must fight terrorists all over the world. Bin Laden's death will be used as an example of how great all these wars were and how we must always go after terrorists and bring them to justice.

Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't really give a shit about one guy when the fact is that his death will be used to justify the continued neo-liberal foreign policies that has put many middle eastern countries in the shitty situation they find themselves today. Al Qaeda could probably not be happier because they know that America will see this as some sort of victory and continue wasting money and resources on pointless military endeavors.

We had no right to kill Osama Bin Laden, we have no right to be conducting covert military operations in Pakistan and we have no right to think that we can solve the worlds problems by sending in soldiers to foreign countries when they don't want us there. We are not the police of the world, but what happened tonight will convince our leaders and media that America must continue wasting billions of our tax dollars on pointless military operations in the name of freedom and democracy.

26. And what did your conservative family spew the past several years?
Were they lacking arrogant pageantry? Were they lacking self-righteousness?

Nope, they accused Obama of everything, INCLUDING BEING A TERRORIST SYMPATHIZER.

Shut it off and enjoy and experience your own moment. Forget, for now, the petty arrogance.
