They let him run at the mouth because they knew it would be his undoing. He is someone that they cannot control and the corporations need someone they can control to push through the rest of their agenda. Forget the circus clowns of the right in the field. Who is the most likely person that they want as their candidate? I'd still bet on Romney.

1. Romney, Huckabee, Newt the Grinch…
Any "serious" career politician would be quite pliable to their demands.

I think Palin would also serve their purposes if they could get her into office (more interested in White House drapes & shooting off her mouth from a helicopter than actual Presidentin'), but Roveco figures she's too hard a sell.

4. Except Palin doesn't take direction well either
That's the GOP dilemma. They need someone who takes direction at the snap of their fingers. Bush was great at it.

5. You're probably right on that.
Palin is a classic example of the Kruger-Dunning Effect in operation.

2. Romney's safe enough. The teabaggers don't like him, but
that doesn't really matter all that much, because the candidates they do like are clowns. So, I think it'll be Romney, who is about as unexciting a candidate as you'll find anywhere. The GOP is really up the creek.

7. You know though...in a primary the whackos have been pulling it out.
Look at Joe Miller up in Alaska. He was ALMOST a senator! (thank goodness that lisa murkowski has some balls!)

9. A Presidential candidate has to do well in multiple states.
That's the problem. There are states the Republicans MUST win, and those states are not teabagger states, for the most part.

8. Obama 'attacked' Trump. Therefore he is 'scared' of him. Because he is 'scared'
there must be something to the birth certificate issue and his grades. Trump hit a nerve. I think we should support Trump because he will get to the truth about the 'usurper' in chief.

And that's the way a teabagger thinks.

15. Yes, he has pretty much accomplished this himself.
If there's a "they" here it's probably strategists from the other campaigns thinking of how they might parlay this into a win for their candidate, but that doesn't require and cooperation or even contact with Donald Trump. I hate to say it, but Sarah Palin might even be able to position herself as being more "restrained" than Donald Trump, or just make it look that way. I'm not sure about Michelle Bachmann, though.

14. I agree they want someone they can control, and Trump doesn't qualify.
There are plenty of others who would qualify for that, though they hardly qualify for the job.
