I am wondering why this thread

This photo is well known and has, over the years since it was first published, almost reached the status of a work of art in the world of war photography.
It has been used for years both as an illustration of the kind of work done by photojournalists and because of its symbolic illustration of what the Iraq war has done to ordinary Iraqi citizens.
I see that all threads which used the photo have now been locked. Since this is an iconic image of the Iraq War, does this mean that other images, eg, from WW11, Vietnam etc. some of which are far more graphic, also require a warning?
I was not aware of this rule, if so, and would like a clarification.
