I read in another question to the admins post that you are rewriting the code for the site. If you don't mind I'd like to put in a couple of suggestions or feature requests for your consideration.
1. While posting, it would be nice to have the bbcode options accessible by highlighting then clicking on a button. I'm currently using two different browser add-ons and even then they don't currently include all of the allowed bbcodes for posting. I still have to keep a separate browser window open to the HTML lookup table for copy and pasting.
I use Chrome on one computer and Firefox on the other, in case that information helps in your rewrite efforts.
2. Posting videos: I would like to be able to post videos from C-SPAN. Have you thought about expanding allowable video sites (I understand that copyright issues will be the determining factor in any of that). Option B, can I take a C-SPAN video, make it into a Youtube video and upload, etc., then add it to a post? Without breaking any DU rules or getting myself sued that is.
2.a. Can you add the option to post videos to other forums other than just "Political Videos" forum? For instance, I found this cool video on Youtube that shows a parabolic mirror that concentrates sunlight and creates so much heat that it can melt metal and *even melts rocks* --now that's hot! I wanted to post that video in the Energy/Environmental forum but I can't, I wanted to post that and ask anyone who thinks that solar power just can't replace fossil fuels what they think. The thing's only about 5' wide. Imagine a 40' version: smelting metal, making concrete, many other industrial and processing uses.
