What are the rules concerning posting about candidate fundraisers?
Hi. :hi: It's been awhile.

I know we're supposed to get permission of admin to post personal fundraising appeals. I also know that nobody has sought permission to post links to major fundraisers for major candidates (ranging from Dean's bat in '03-04 to Act Blue/"moneybombs" of late); I'm not sure whether they're technically supposed to, or what.

Anyhow.

1) Must a poster request permission to post a fundraising link for a local candidate?

2) If a poster must, indeed, request permission to post a fundraising link for a local candidate, might I have permission to do so?

Thanks.

1. If it's a legitimate Democratic candidate, and they have a legitimate website and donate page....
...then you can do it without asking for permission.

But if people are sending money to some random paypal account or something like that, then it's not permitted.

2. Cool. It's a nonpartisan race, but the candidate is a Dem.

He's registered with the elections commission, is circulating petitions, all that.

I don't think he can ID himself as such do to the nonpartisan nature of the election, but his platform and endorsements (once they're live) will make it clear.

Is that OK?

Thanks.
