I'm just curious. Where is the President?
Edited on Sat Nov-21-09 02:29 AM by FrenchieCat
Last I vaguely heard, he was in South Korea.
I don't know what he said there, or anything else about this leg of his trip.

Earlier in the week, I did see him on television where he was shown speaking
in front of Chinese Students about the Internet and
that's the last sentence I remember him speaking,
because I haven't seen him on Television since....
although I know that he bowed at some point.

So I thought I'd ask, cause I haven't heard a peep of his whereabouts....
although I do know where Sarah Palin has been and what she has said...
oh, and I heard Lou Dobbs quit CNN,
and that Oprah's last show is in 2011,
and that the Senate is voting on Saturday to see if there will be debate
on the HCR bill.

It may be my fault that I don't know,
cause I stopped watching television the other day,
when the media guy on my TV broke away from the President saying something somewhere,
and told me that he'd let me know if anything else important was said.

So where is the President?

1. I saw Air Force One land in the rain yesterday (on TV, I mean) so he's returned
home anyway.

2. Ah....good to know.
I was hoping that we'd see him at the great wall and such,
and perhaps it was shown....
cause like I said, I turned off my set,
cause I didn't want to see that Palin woman all over the place,
cause she just tires me.

3. No worries
There is a W.H. press pool with the President at ALL times unless he's in the official W.H. residence (not the executive building and oval) He goes nowhere even at 2 a.m. without 20-30 pool members knowing about it. It's part of the deal. He does nothing without them tagging along covering it.

Per Time Magazine and to spend time with his wife and daughters.

5. Good to know. Thank you.
In California, one has to wake up pretty early in the morning
to actually see the President most of the time....
So I don't see him very often, like when he is making announcements and such,
but I thought his Asian trip would be better covered....
and I'm disappointed that it wasn't.

Plus, I get tired of those newsreaders on the television,
as most are quite unlikable and hard to watch....
and that is who I mostly see when I turn on my TV these days.
So for the last week, I haven't watch much,
and when I have, it's been just watching a bit of Rachel.

I will say that my life feels calmer this way.

13. The media has it in for him, you know that...
they wouldn't dare cover his trip if it meant showing actual progress in diplomacy.

7. I really have not seen much coverage of his activities as of late
Except for The Bow of course. That I have seen over and over again, as angles are discussed, as well as hip vs waist bows, and previous presidential bows compared to The Bow.

8. Unfortunately, you have to go to the source on this one......
Edited on Sat Nov-21-09 08:02 AM by Clio the Leo
.... if you have not already, check out the WH blog for logs of "behind the scenes" videos from the trip by Ben Rhodes, John Favreau etc. I like the last one where you can see Gibbs and Jarret sleepily walking around the plane on the trip home.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog

But, as usual, you have a point .... there's a lot of things we can tell from this trip and the lack of coverage.

The time difference is always a problem .... and I think the fact that that Palin woman lived 14 hours (or whatever) away from the DC news cycle is one of the reasons why she quit the governorship. You cant terrorize the country when you're that far away and behind time-zone wise. I'm certain that the Palin book tour was slated to start WHILE he was in Asia for this very reason.

The OTHER problem was the restrictive nature of press coverage in China. You know how the press is, if things dont go their way, they take their balls and go home.

But you notice something, despite the fact that they weren't reporting what was happening while he was gone, they are all too willing to tell us all the things he either did WRONG or didn't do at all on the trip.... now that he's back.

14. They need to appoint someone to watch that guy 24/7 till the cloture vote
I give it a 50-50 chance he engages in his last betrayal voting against the bill than declaring himself a member of the GOP.
