"Clyburn will support bill without public option"
This marks the second Rep I've heard use the phrase "I dont care what it's called...." and I cant help but wonder if that's not the strategy (who's strategy, I dont know.) To come up with something that will do with the PO would have done, but call it something else. That way the progressives get what they want, but the conservadems dont have to go on record as "voting for the public option."

We shall see.....

"Clyburn will support bill without public option"

By Jordan Fabian - 12/27/09 03:44 PM ET
The House's third-ranking Democrat said Sunday that he can support a healthcare reform bill without a public option.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) -- a proponent of a government-run public plan -- said that he could back the bill as long as it creates more choice and competition in the insurance industry and reduces costs. "It's of no consequence" whether it's done via the public option or not.

Asked on CBS' "Face the Nation" if he could back a bill without the public plan, he said "Yes, sir, I can. Because why did we do-- why do we want a public option? We want a public option to do basically three ten-- things: create more choice for insurers, create more competition for insurance companies, and to contain costs."

He continued, "If we can come up with a process by which three-- these three things can be done, then I'm all for it; whether or not we label it a public option or not is of no consequence. What we want to do is get good, effective results from whatever we put in place."

1. You've got to figure 95% of the final bill with be the Senate bill
Progressives need to work to insure that the other 5% doesn't include Stupak.

3. Yep, I'm right there with you....
.... I dont expect the bill to change much from the Senate bill. (That's why I said, "I dont know who's strategy.") It's possible that the "rose by any other name" idea may be something the progressive house Reps are pushing as their only hope. Stupak commented on the matter recently, let me see if I can find the article.....

2. Senator Menendez says the final bill will be much more like Senate
Bill than the House Bill.

10. I know, it's a crazy notion.....
.... everyone pitching in so that more people .... the poor, the young, the chronically ill .... can have access affordable health care.

Some folks dont like sharing our big tent with the moderates ... I dont like sharing it with the libertarians.

But share it we must.

"That fundamental belief: I am my brother’s keeper. I am my sister’s keeper that makes this country work." .... at least that's what someone said long ago ... pity he forgot that that notion ended at the pocketbook.

President Emmanuel is tightening the screws.

Contact Cyburn and the others this week.

Tell them you won't support them if they don't support real reform.

13. Assume of course, that Congresspeople who have actually voted for
progressive legislation through the years lack the understanding of the legislative process of the average keyboard commando.
