Sarah Palin is the real Lonesome Rhodes - It didn't take long
From the "High horses have slippery saddles" department, here's a quote from a supporter who waited for her outside her book signing event in Indiana:

"Jordan Harris I have never felt so disrespected. How can you claim that you are different? You aren’t. You are just as selfish as everyone else in Washington. It breaks my heart. I thought you might be the answer to the turmoil this country is under but you aren’t. You just slapped hundreds of Hoosiers in the face. The hard working type of people that you claim to represent."

And another:

"Greg VandenBoom I spent majority of my day at Border’s in Noblesville, Indiana waiting to get my book signed. After 8 hours in the cold and rain with my wife and 10 month old baby, I was shocked to watch Sarah get on a bus and leave without signing books for at least 400 people. Instead, we were given a sticker that had her signature printed on it! You lost quite a few supporters tonight! I know many planned to return their books, but the real disappointment was the realization that someone you supported and believed in didn’t follow through on the commitment they made."

1. More evidence she's a sham, a grifter, a quitter.
Edited on Fri Nov-20-09 09:39 PM by Avalux
Her worst enemies will be those who fervently supported her and then feel betrayed by her.

2. "grifter" - it's the perfect descritpion, Avalux
In my mind's eye I see her at the applause machine some day just like Rhodes in the movie. He's the icon and she fits the bill.

4. Yep. And her ego blinds her - oblivious to the ramifications of her actions.
I imagine in private, she is a lewd-mouthed, nasty woman.

3. Seems the queen of hearts turned into the queen of mean in their eyes.
The rest of us always knew she was the stain on the card table.

6. I'm reading the many comments and there's one theme that emerged...
~I thought you were different~

One woman wrote how she shirked her family & work duties for the chance to meet Palin. Now she feels achy and ill from standing in the cold and rain.

I can see the tee shirt - "I waited all day to meet Sarah and all I got was this lousy cold".

25. Palin finished her speech and traveled after her water broke. I'm sure her fans thought
she would sign on into the night....

7. She made them feel special but that was an illusion
What she really sees when she looks at her supporters is dollar signs.

9. Oh yes - Here's a snippet example of their upside down priorities...
“We gave up our entire workday, stayed in the cold. My kids were crying,” said one man. “They went home with my wife. She was out here in the freezing cold all day. I feel like I don’t want to support Sarah.”

The guy stayed until his kids were crying. All for Sarah. They should never have taken the kids in the first place. Pfui.

I didn't think it would be this soon. She sat on her bus looking out the window while her supporters boood her. Classic Sarah!

she HEARD there were people who waited for her who she didn't get to say hi to, that she apologizes, is very sorry and will find a way to make it up to them.

As if she didn't see and hear them herself right outside of her bus. :eyes: I hope they're not dumb enough to believe she didn't know-and will forgive her when she does whatever to "make it right."

22. Here's Palin's apology from Facebook:
Not Enough Hours in the Day
The response on this book tour has been overwhelming. We are truly humbled, and I thank you.

I've been told that yesterday there were supporters in Noblesville who stood in long lines for hours in the cold and rain, and the book signing event ended without a chance to say hello to everyone who showed up. I am so sorry. We are working on a solution for those who were left behind.

I apologize.

I guess they needed to rock the bus to get her attention. Booing and calling her "quitter" didn't cut it.

Between a possible passing vote on Saturday in the Senate and this Palin episode it's implosion at the GOP corral.

30. These people are looking for some perfect mommy/daddy....
in their beloved Sarah Palin.

These people, who apparently thought Palin was the greatest political thing since sliced bread, are now bitterly disillusioned because she ran out of time (or whatever) and didn't get around to signing their books?

These people are pathetic. God help me, they make me feel (a little) sorry for Sarah Palin.

31. I'm having a hard time believing her fans are that shallow

Maybe it's just me, but I'd expect true blue fans of hers to find a rationalization of some kind.

I once went to an event where a particular celebrity I admired was supposed to appear, and it turned out he couldn't make it. I can remeber another time that the lead in a theater production was unable to perform on the night I had tickets to the show.

Life is like that. Sometimes things don't work out. But I'm surprised that these die-hards would turn on her instead of finding some other way to cope with the disappointment. It seems pretty shallow.

Then again, I don't complain if I don't get everything I ordered correctly at a restaurant. Sometimes mistakes happen, and there's no sense wasting food. Am I weird or something?

Remember those heartbreaking stories of the Inaugural clusterf--k? Did the people who were unfortunately stuck in that traffic tunnel turn on Obama?
