No Obama decision on Afghan until after Thanksgiving
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N20238036.htm

President Barack Obama's announcement of a new strategy on Afghanistan will not take place until after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday next week, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Friday.

Obama is considering whether to add thousands more U.S. troops to Afghanistan. He said during a just-concluded trip to Asia that he would like to end the war during his presidency.

Aides have said repeatedly that Obama is weeks away from his decision. Gibbs confirmed by email that no announcement was expected before the Thursday Thanksgiving holiday.

7. Obama obviously cares about the troops, unlike Bush.
He's taking in all requested information after rejecting 4 plans for Afghanistan because none of them included an exit strategy. You're just being nasty with your comment. :eyes:

6. I spent a Thanksgiving deployed while in the army
it is one of my worst memories.
Can only be a thousand times worse for the troops in Afghanistan.

8. I don't expect him to announce a troop withdrawal, but I'd hope he would propose an exit strategy
instead of the continual escalation strategy.

11. Obama waits until we are in a food-induced stupor
so he can hypnotize us and tell us why we need to send more troops to Afghanistan. But everyone knows the real reason. It's because this is American, home of bloodthirsty killers who just stand back as their government mows down family after family after family.

Thank you Obama for not spoiling our dinners by reminding us of our victims.

Gosh, how many people HAVE we killed already? Enough? Not enough that we will actually make our government stop.

12. Significantly, there are no Afghanistan threads in General Discussion
mainly because Americans generally think it is their right to kill people. I don't know where they got that idea, but there it is.
