Mr. President: Please think about the people you tried to help as a community organizer.
I say this because if you sign the current Senate Health Care bill into law without MAJOR changes, you will be screwing them. They will NOT be able to afford, even with subsidies, to pay the premiums for the mandated insurance. There is NO real competition in the market to drive premium costs down.

The rich will get richer, and the poor will get much poorer.

For once, TAKE A STAND. Say "I will not sign any legislation that requires mandates IF there is not a public option available to every American." And, then, stick to it.

Your lack of leadership is showing, and it is going to cost the country (not to mention the party) dearly.

1. The bill is gonna pass. The next step is to fix the problems you are talking about after the fact.
But there is no sense in harping on about it. Its going to pass, its going to be signed in the law, nothing is going to change that.

2. Yep. He may have done community organizing at one time, and he may have even
had his heart in it, but those days are long gone.

3. It's starting to look like that whole "community organizer" thing was a stepping stone.
Part of the whole bait and switch job he pulled on Progressives.

5. I want to know what are his core principles upon which he will not compromise.
He sure hasn't shown much spine, if he has them.

7. Yep, you're probably correct.
Through his community organizing he met people who helped carve his future, such as Alice Palmer and the Rev. Wright among others. You might notice that Palmer was thrown under the bus years ago and that eventually Rev. Wright ended up in the same over stuffed undercarriage. As some staffer told Time magazine a few months ago, president Obama is not sentimental. In other words, once you don't serve his needs you're history. In a little aside, Palmer never gave the media an interview, but suffice it to say that she supported Hillary during the primaries.

9. You never miss
a chance to spew BS do you when it comes to Obama. Wright threw himself under the bus all by himself. You can sit here and pretend all you want that your girl Hillary would have been any different and ya know, you'd probably be right. I mean, we'd probably be sitting in Iran right now and Afghanistan would have gotten everything they wanted.

Please, she lost, she got over it and it's time her supporters did the same thing. But it won't happen. At least not on this board. Those who were against Obama from the start will continue to be against him until the end of time.

10. Of course.
If there is a reason you don't like or agree with a politician, why should he or she getting elected change your feelings about that person?

I thought that Obama sold a bill of goods to his supporters and I still do.

11. He's been planning this since kindergarten.
He wrote that he wanted to be president when he was 5 years old!! I wonder who planted that idea in his head and set him on the path to being a corporate Manchurian candidate? Are we even sure that he wasn't grown in a vat by the health insurance industry just for this moment?

4. During the campaign
It sure seemed like Obama was going to be a force for the impoverished.

But that can't be possible with the corporate whoring and backscratching that's going on.

13. Well said.
The President promised us as follows:

Any plan I sign must include an insurance exchange: a one-stop shopping marketplace where you can compare the benefits, cost and track records of a variety of plans - including a public option to increase competition and keep insurance companies honest - and choose what's best for your family.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/07/obama-demands-the-bill-i-sign-must-include-public-option.php

I hope he keeps that promise.

Kill the bill.

Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.
