1. You do know that the Conference Report can be filibustered in the Senate, same as a regular bill?
That said... change the Conference bill significantly from the text of the current Senate bill, and Lieberman or Nelson is liable to filibuster it all over again.

If the Democrats didn't have the 'nads to face down the filibuster threat before, why would they now?

Face it... the Senate bill is pretty much what is going to be law. Conference fixings are a pipe dream.

(mmm... hitting the pipe is fun...)

2. It wasn't because of a lack of "nads".....
.... it was a lack of five more progressive Senators.

but otherwise, I'm afraid you're right.

Dumbest Idea Ever...

8. let them filibuster as long as they dare
Let them block EVERYTHING, lock the senate down, and make them all stay present so not one of the bastards can do ANY fundraising until the matter is settled with an up or down vote.

Lets see who has the passion to stay and make it happen. Lets see who blinks.

Oh.. wait, we did that, and all our people got poked in the eyes.

Alternately, how hard would it be to abolish the senate?
