1. They send out this reply and here's mine to them:
Dear Curt,

Thank you for contacting CafePress.com!
Cafepress looks at content on a case by case basis, and makes decisions about what content is permissible based on our content usage policy.

Anti-presidential gear has been a mainstay at Cafepress since we were founded in 1999 and has become a key component of political discourse. Our site has become a cultural barometer of public opinion and as such designs often come into question. In managing our content we are trying to protect self expression, while making sure we are not advocating violence.

We initially pulled the Psalm 109:8 content from our products today because broader media dialog indicated that these designs potentially suggested violence towards the president. Based on current public discourse and further review of the actual content, we have determined that it is fair political commentary and we are in the process of reinstating this merchandise. As with all of our content, these designs will continue to be reviewed and if at any time their meaning is construed as advocating violence we will revisit our decision.

I said to them: Yeah. I already saw this same canned reply on a website.

Fair political commentary does NOT call for the death of the president; it is fomenting violence and hatred.

I stand by my decision and that of all my friends to NOT shop on your site.

2. That's why I posted the PR office's number
If the PR people start to think something is amiss, that their public image is taking a beating, then maybe the suits will listen.

3. Did they ever pull the design with the automatic rifle and the word

"impeach" under it? I wrote to them about that one and received the same boiler plate response.

4. I wrote and told them I reported them to the FBI and Secret Service.
No reply yet. And I did report them, too.

8. We may be making some progress.....
..... I am doing a search at CafePress for "Psalms 109:8" and cant find anything ..... ironically the search is returning lots of "Stop the H8" and "Jesus was a Liberal" merchandise.

Does anyone have a direct link to the origial merchandise? Have we checked to see if it's still there. (I realize CafePress said they would not pull it.) But if they "left it up there" yet blocked it from the search engine so no one could find it. They may have solved the problem without setting themselves up for a law suit.

9. I support Cafepress's right to sell these and for people to wear.
And of course I don't agree with what is being 'said'.

But that small fact has no bearing on my fighting FOR someone to express themselves.

11. What I think about what is 'said'
matters not at all.

I support someones right to 'say' it.

Always and without question

12. FAIL.
There are some things we are NOT free to say. Advocating for assassination of the President of the United States is NOT one of them.

Buh-Bye.

But I must always strive to protect free speech.

It is sacrosanct to me.

17. Look at Cafe Press' own TOS
They have several categories of prohibited items. You can't sell shirts praising the health benefits of heroin, for example. For some reason, though, getting wingnuts whipped into a homicidal frenzy is a different matter.

14. If the government was forcing Cafe Press to remove the controversial gear, I would be with you.

At this point, however, it's an issue of commercial pressure from the general public. As such, questions of free speech are not really relevant. I vote for "Boycott the fuck out of them!"

16. It's a violation of federal law to threaten the President, chumley
Fire, crowded theater, etc.

And don't invoke the 1st Amendment; it has no bearing on commercial transactions between private parties.
