Why Are The Pugs Earger For A Gingrich-Obama Debate?
The optics for Newt are terrible. They are even worse for Gingrich than they were for Richard Nixon against Kennedy.

1. They are under the impression that Noot is "brilliant" and cannot
wait for him to "wipe the floor" with his brilliance against the President.

3. He is only 'brilliant' when compared to the rest of the
GOP 'field'. Not saying much. He still contradicts himself and has warped ideas.

4. Well,
Newt can speak in complete sentences, which would be a huge starting place for them considering the rest of their field.

5. Please don't use "optics" unless you're talking about his glasses.
Edited on Wed Nov-16-11 03:55 PM by Atman
Sorry to go off-topic nit-picking, but "optics" are lenses in cameras and telescopes, and have nothing to do with the appearance of some fat douche bag's campaign. At some point in the last year or so, Sunday morning talking heads began using the word optics to mean visuals or appearances. Let's try not to dumb up our language and worse than it already is.

Mini-rant over. Back to our regularly scheduled postings.

6. Because they think talking a lot, and knowing what you're talking about, are the same.
Guess which one Gingrich is.

7. Newt Gingrich: "Language a Key Mechanism of Control"
In 1996, I believe, he created the GOPAC memo, "Language a Key Mechanism of Control" ..

Many of those slurs against the Democratic party have become ingrained in Repub minds...

Thanks for the sanity of DU :)

10. Because they think Newt is smart and can complete with Obama in a debate.
Edited on Wed Nov-16-11 04:48 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
They may be starting to realize that Obama would have Cain, Perry or Bachmann for lunch, so now they are falling back on Gingrich because he uses big words (even though as a party they hate intellectuals). What they haven't figured out yet is that Obama would also have Gingrich for lunch, because Gingrich produces nothing but hot air. He is good at bloviating but he doesn't really know much.

In addition to hot air, he also has an enormous amount of this:

13. Look at the clowns they're comparing him to.
The fact that he's a better debater than Rick Perry and Herman Cain suddenly makes him a good debater? I guess anyone who doesn't fall flat on their faces has to be impressive to these jerkoffs.
