Conservative WaPo blog lights up Gingrich on his lies about lobbying for Freddie Mac
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/gingrich-fannie-and-freddie/2011/11/10/gIQAYxw28M_blog.html

In the CNBC debate Newt was asked about $300,000 he received from Freddie Mac in 2006. He said he was paid as a "historian". Jennifer Rubin takes him to task for this bold-faced lie.

Gingrich was there for Fannie Mae again that April. A press release at the time stated: “House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) today joined representatives from the Fannie Mae, the Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership (ANDP) and area lenders and housing officials for the grand opening of the new Cobb Housing, Inc. headquarters. At the ceremony, the Fannie Mae Foundation awarded Cobb Housing a $15,000 grant to support its housing counseling services. Speaker Gingrich, who participated in the ceremony, applauded Cobb Housing’s efforts to improve affordable housing opportunities in Cobb County. ‘To help people achieve the American dream of homeownership, we need to prepare people to handle the enormous responsibility of owning their own home,’ said Speaker Gingrich. ‘I commend Cobb Housing and the Fannie Mae Foundation for enhancing housing counseling programs that can better prepare families for this responsibility.’”

Newt is backpeddling from this by claiming he was not a lobbyist because he never contacted Congress. But he was certainly a paid advocate for the GSE's. This is poison to Newt since the right has built up this fiction that the GSE's were the sole cause of the financial meltdown.

This has to go viral. It exposes that POS for the true liar he is.

1. Newt can always run as a "Family Values" candidate.
After all, he's had more families than anyone else.

4. too bad the "values" runs on the "averages" ...
I've got over 20 years with Mrs. ZBDent ... however, according to the Repugs, my "family values" aren't as "valued" as Newt's multiple families ...

3. Read 'Reckless Endangerment', the free online book.
Very enlightening. The link is in the OP. It has answers to a lot of the right-wing rhetoric about how, in their words, Barney Frank "single-handedly stopped the brave bush administration from putting regulation on Fannie and Freddie". There were a lot more players in this, including Bob Ney (inmate number 3254678) and Frank Luntz. Still can't figure out what 'GSE' stands for.

5. GSE = Government Sponsored Enterprise
Fannie Mae
Freddie Mac
Ginnie Mae
Sally Mae

were among the original ones.

The purpose of each is to assist in long term funding for consumer markets.

SLMA (Sallie Mae) is short for Student Loan Marketing Association (student loans).

6. Thanks, I knew what they were, I just didn't know what the letters stood for.
I sell Real Estate (thanks for your sympathy) and deal with Fannie, Freddie all the time.
