BTW....The "Status of Forces Agreement" was Bush agreement when Obama Presidency Threatened.
(From CNN's SHILL REPORTER at the PENTAGON)

Iraq pact timeline calls for troops to leave by 2011, Pentagon says

November 19, 2008|From Mike Mount CNN Senior Pentagon Producer

A security pact between the U.S. and Iraqi governments will allow U.S. troops to finish the work it needs to do before leaving the country, a Pentagon spokesman said Wednesday.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates was briefing Congressional members on the Status of Forces (SOFA) agreement, which gives troops the authority and time they need to conduct operations and train Iraqi forces to a sufficient level, Geoff Morrell said.

"The security situation has improved so dramatically, and the Iraqi security forces have improved so dramatically, that we are confident that if things continue to trend as they have been, our services will not be needed in Iraq come 2012," Morrell said.

President George W. Bush has already signed off on the agreement, which sets legal jurisdiction over U.S. troops and contractors and lays out timetables for withdrawal of U.S. forces.

The SOFA calls for all U.S. forces to fall back out of Iraqi cities by June 2009 and to be out of Iraq by the end of 2011. It is also being debated by the Iraqi Parliament.

1. If Republicans had been in power they'd have found an excuse
to keep us in there longer.

McCain's disgusting bleating about the withdrawal should be proof of that for anyone who has a brain.

Oh, wait. I forgot. It's all a big conspiracy and the Democrats and Republicans are just two arms of the Illuminati that control an entire world government and oh god where is my tinfoil IT KEEPS THE GOBLINS ASLEEP.

4. So you admit that Bush or Obama would have done the same thing?

9. No, I'm saying that had McCain been elected and not Obama,
we would not be talking about a withdrawal from Iraq right now because President McCain would be "staying the course".

10. But...there's no way of knowing that since Obama himself changed from what
he promised as a candidate. Said we'd be out of Iraq by the end of 2010.

12. More goalposts?
"As a candidate for president, I made clear my support for a timeline of 16 months to carry out this drawdown, while pledging to consult closely with our military commanders upon taking office to ensure that we preserve the gains we"ve made and protect our troops," Obama said. "Those consultations are now complete, and I have chosen a timeline that will remove our combat brigades over the next 18 months.

"Let me say this as plainly as I can: by August 31, 2010, our combat mission in Iraq will end."

15. He said the combat mission would end, not that all troops would be out.
Not my fault you chose to see what you wanted, and it's not the President's fault either.

14. Actually BUSH changed his policy not to set a timeline or deadline
He tried to say this was different than what the Democratic Senate passed as an amendment to a budget bill that he vetoed and different from the earlier Kerry/Feingold which was also similar.

The difference - Bush's timeline was longer. (Kerry/Feingold was a year; the Democratic bill allowed more latitude - and Obama ran on 16 month from the point he was in office. ) The argument Obama used was that Iraq agreed to this - though in 2006, Iraq was speaking of one year as what they wanted.

5. No, the Iraqi government would have pushed them out against their will, too.

3. Outcomes and results are what matter and what people remember.
To get the other stuff you'll cut through the weeds or look in the footnotes in obscure biographies published years later.

So all this stuff about what Obama wanted to do or was planning on doing or considering doing will not much matter in the end.

6. You are saying that given our "Dumb Media" and Peoples Working 3 Jobs , these days
that no one will notice if Obama's Campaign "fudges the truth...distorts the truth...uses the truth to their own advantage?"

IOWDS....Obama is Bush...he can give the Media his Campaign Talking Points...and "We the People" will not know the truth of it?
