The President should continue voicing support of OWS, however shouldn't be too involved. . .
. . .intimately.

If he is aligns himself too closely he ends up owning all of their actions. Every sign that crosses the line, every statement that crosses the line, every demand that goes further than he is willing to go and every encounter with the police (above and beyond civil disobedience).

I encourage him to remain friendly, recognize their efforts and echo their sentiments when appropriate, but this movement can't be controlled (AND THAT IS NOT A BAD THING) therefore he must be careful.

4. Rather than telling him when to put on those comfortable shoes, why don't we . . .
. . .trust him to make to the decision as to where and when he puts them on.

8. I don't expect you to trust him, nor will I ask you to, but I, and many others, do. . .
. . .too bad if you have a problem with that.

2. It seems like that's exactly what he's doing...
with his comments at both his last press conference and at the MLK dedication.

7. Yup, for him to be more closely aligned he or someone would have to have the ability. . .
. . .to control their actions. No one can control them now and that is how it should be. Actually for the good of the movement its important that he doesn't get too close. His involvement changes the tone and actually takes away from what they are trying to accomplish.

despite those who are never satisfied with anything Obama does/how he does it.

5. I basically agree with you
Presidents do not march in demonstrations. Not sitting presidents anyway. The closest I have ever seen was when Reagan and Bush Sr. used to send a recorded message to anti-abortion demonstrators in D.C.

Obama's statement to the unions in 2007 about putting on his tennis shoes to march while president was a naive rookie mistake and a promise that should not have been made.

12. This is important to protect the credibility of OWS.
I'm less concerned about Obama's credibility frankly.

He's being discredited by fbi raids at pot dispensaries, trade agreements with Columbia and Mexican truckers working in the US. The bullet holes in his feet are of his own creation.

17. I would like to digress
I think he should put on his comfortable shoes and meet and greet these people, no
big speeches, visit as one of them, he is going there to listen to their preposition.

The talking heads are already suggesting he should not go there, but I think this movement
is much more sophisticated than any other protest prior to OWS movement.
