Fox News Polls Obama’s Bow, Finds Majority Of Republicans Support It

The internals of the new Fox News poll show the network actually polled Obama’s bow — and perhaps didn’t get the desired answer:

When the president of the United States is traveling overseas, do you think it is appropriate for him to bow to a foreign leader if that is the country’s custom or is it never appropriate for the president to bow to another leader?

Yes, bow when it is the proper custom: 67%
No, it is never appropriate: 26%

Even more interesting, a majority of Repubicans, 53%, says the Bow is appropriate, too, versus only 40% who said it isn’t.

It’s another sign, if you needed one, of how far off to the right some contemporary conservative discourse has drifted. It’s also a mark of how absurd it is that some traditional news orgs actually felt obliged to, er, bow to the pressure to cover this particular line of criticism.

*********************************************

Update: Of course, it’s always possible that the poll’s question is flawed in that it didn’t make it clear enough how deeply Obama bowed and how weak and prostrate he really looked.

2. Personally, I don't like the bowing
because it's a meeting of equals; however, I'm not losing any sleep over it, like FoxNews seems to be.

5. It's a sign the President is aware of traditions in other countries, and
in Japan this is a sign of respect. I have no problem with Obama bowing. I guess I'm not alone.

7. oy, the level of political discourse in this country.
seriously, there's WAY too much discussion about trivialities like "the bow". it's been pathetic for a long time but it's been sickening since back when all they could talk about was al gore's wardrobe.

and when the msm DOES get around to talking about policy, it's nearly always as a horserace or power token. which party/politician gains if this bill passes, and so on.

so rarely is there a genuine discussion of substantive policy questions. you really have to visit another country to understand how infantile we are when it comes to political discourse.

even npr isn't what it used to be, though it's still leaps and bounds better than any tv "news" program.

Donald Trump, a germophobe, prefers bowing than handshakes.

10. The question is dead on correct
the deep bow spin BS might vary the results by a point or two but most people don't believe in being disrespectful assholes just because we are American.

18. Also shocking...
That many republicans actually are familiar with Japanese traditions. I expect these informed individuals jump ship as the proudly=ignorant lunatics take further control of their party.
