I loved how Obama kept saying "CBC" in his speech
I mean I loved how it sounded the way he said it, it doesn't come across in the transcript, but did anyone else notice this?

So I don't know about you, CBC, but the future rewards those who press on. (Applause.) With patient and firm determination, I am going to press on for jobs. (Applause.) I'm going to press on for equality. (Applause.) I'm going to press on for the sake of our children. (Applause.) I'm going to press on for the sake of all those families who are struggling right now. I don't have time to feel sorry for myself. I don't have time to complain. I am going to press on. (Applause.)

I expect all of you to march with me and press on. (Applause.) Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. (Applause.) Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We've got work to do, CBC. (Applause.)

1. This is a common rhetorical device that speakers often use at the CBC dinner
President Obama does it each year. I remember Al Gore doing it in 2000 - he used a slightly different tone - he kept saying "Vote, CBC" in various inflections - but it was priceless and the audience loved it.

3. thanks! I found a transcript of that, I'd love to see a video
another article says he was speaking in the style of Jesse Jackson, I could so imagine Jesse doing this...

So, for them, when you walk onto the floor of the Congress, and you see their equities at stake, you have to vote C.B.C.

And so I ask you, the next time you see a crumbling school with desks crowded in the hallways and rain dripping through the roof, vote C.B.C.

The next time you see a sick child with no health insurance and a parent who cannot possibly afford her family’s care, vote C.B.C.

The next time you see whole communities choking from pollution and environmental injustice, vote C.B.C.

The next time someone tries to shut down Affirmative Action instead of swinging open the doors of opportunity, I know you’ll vote C.B.C.

The next time that anyone argues that even the most vicious and violent hate crimes are just like any other crimes, or that racial profiling is just a price that has to be paid, vote C.B.C.

2. Yeah - cause he wasn't talking to them.
Except when he was - but that's not when he wasn't.

6. I noticed. Commonplace for the cadence of black preachers. It's popular and gets the crowd going.
For those who assert that Obama "isn't really a brother," I beg to differ after this speech! LOL!!

11. Sales people do that with names.

I find it unappealing.

And what was with the bedroom slippers remark? Is Obama suggesting that members of the Congressional Black Caucus are shuffling around in bedroom slippers and complaining? A Teabagger neighbor thinks that of African-Americans...seems like an odd choice of footwear to reference.
