Edited on Tue Sep-27-11 01:30 PM by Dawgs
Some jackass just emailed me these numbers and I want to prove him wrong. Any good reliable source that his numbers are shit?

Thanks.

The latest posting by the Treasury Department shows the national debt has now increased $4 trillion on President Obama's watch.
The debt was $10.626 trillion on the day Mr. Obama took office. The latest calculation from Treasury shows the debt has now hit $14.639 trillion.

It's the most rapid increase in the debt under any U.S. president.

The national debt increased $4.9 trillion during the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush. The debt now is rising at a pace to surpass that amount during Mr. Obama's four-year term.

1. You can spin the numbers any way you want.
The debt nearly doubled under bush. It nearly tripled under Reagan, all the while these 2 jackasses handed out tax breaks to their rich friends. I lost at least $100,000 in income because of bush policies, but gee, he gave me $600 back. You want charts, I got charts.

4. The article mentions the tax breaks.
And, the unpaid wars, and the unpaid Medicare Part D. But, the author of the linked article discounts them. If you don't ignore those facts or the numbers, it all debunks itself.

5. Another key difference is this:
Bush inherited a budget surplus when he came into office. When he left, he handed Obama a budget that was over $1 trillion in the red. It's not as if Obama came in with a balanced budget and ran up all that new debt by himself.

6. PO took office January 2009. His first budget was in October 2009 and his
second was in october 2010. That's it...two budgets, not three. The budget in effect prior to October 2009 was Bush's.

Plus I believe discretionary spending in Obama's first budget was lower than Bush's.

During his administration, Bush's wars were off the books, too, in addition to representing spending that Obama could not immediately change.

The prevailing meme out there, because of non-stop lying and deception, is that Obama has radically spent and regulated the nation into oblivion in an unprecedented manner. The truth is quite different.
