HP: Republicans Are Driving America to an Economic Crash
Edited on Tue Sep-27-11 09:11 AM by dennis4868
When Republican House Speaker John Boehner (Ohio) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.) threaten the Fed if it tries to help the economy with monetary policy, their low-concept imitation of Ron Paul is economically ignorant and historically unprecedented. When Republican candidate Rick Perry threatens the Fed with charges of treason and comes close to threatening violence if the Fed chairman visits Texas, his polyester impersonation of Paul makes him intellectually and morally unfit for the presidency. When the books are written, one story of the 2012 campaign will be the full magnitude of influence that Ron Paul has achieved over Republican economic policy. For better or worse, it is an enormous achievement for Paul that his lifetime body of work is now a consensus policy of the Republican Party.

The larger story, when the books are written, will be how Republican leaders in Congress appear hell-bent on returning the nation to the economic crash that began under the last Republican president, as so many recessions and depressions have begun under Republican leadership.
Here is how Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Cantor and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) are imitating 30 years of Ron Paul policies and destroying the American economy:

Never before in American history have leaders of any party attacked the Federal Reserve Board for trying to use monetary policy to strengthen the economy during a recession or depression. It has never happened before, not once in American history. Never before in American history have leaders of any party done what Republican leaders and Republican candidates are doing today: attacking any effort to help the economy through monetary policy, and attacking any effort to help the economy through fiscal policy, at the same time, during a recession or depression. It has never happened before. Not once. Not ever. Even the most conservative Republican leaders in American history have never done anything like this.

What I don't get is how so many liberals, including DUers, don't see this. They don't see the Repub obstruction they are conducting so Obama fails and looks weak with the result of independents and even loyal liberals jumping ship. How do people ignore the record fillubusters by the repubs since 2009? How do they ignore Leader McConnel flat out saying we are going to obstruct progress. But yet people here and around the country blame Obama for all of this. Obama warned us in 2010 not to give the keys to the car back to the repubs. Well, we did and now what? PL bash Obama for working with repubs to get anything done? No other prez in the history of our country is treated the way Obama is by people in this country. Everything is fillubusterd, even policies that Repubs have favored in the past that can help the country and yet people here blame Obama. Obama is not a king and cannot pass laws by himself. HE NO LONGER HAS A VOTE IN CONGRESS!

1. Geithner's comment about $200,000 per job isn't helping either though.
To be honest doesn't that seems a little expensive?

5. We all know how Republicans obstruct things.
We are counting on Obama to find ways around it but he seems to not have a knack for it. Gingrich was no picnic for Clinton to deal with I am sure, but they got some pretty significant things done.

4. it's possible to see repub obstruction
and also possible to criticize Obama for his actions (or inactions) in dealing with it.

the world is not as black and white as is dreamt of in your philosophy, dennis...

this constant meme of Obama as complete victim does him no good, imo.
