3. Yes, it diminishes Romney! I had heard that he must do well
in FL...it is more of a moderate state. Let a crazy win !

I watched the debate and Cain was the only one who actually
talked about a specific, positive plan...all others just
trashed Obama or talked about what they would get rid or
or halt....no big ideas, just like Jeb said

7. It's downright embarrassing for Romney (AND Perry). I wonder if they
who voted for Cain did it because he's Black.

They're turning themselves wrong side out to hitch their wagon to ANYONE BUT MITT!

4. just shows how straw polls are ludicrous, and secondly, how unpopular Perry & Romney would be in a
general election. Oh, look! It's governor skeletor announcing the numbers! Damn you, skeletor, you won't stop He-Man!

5. A small, very partisan straw poll, but maybe a death knell for Perry's campaign?
Edited on Sat Sep-24-11 05:13 PM by pinto
i.e, in that it's coming on the heels of the Fox rant-debate and will probably garner some press coverage.

12. It was the Republican party gathering in Orlando over 3500 strong--from all over the state
Cain had an overflow crowd last night. They loved him. Florida Republicans are just too weird!

10. This is why using historic results alone to determine the future is foolish

Past Florida Straw Poll winners

1979-Ronald Reagan

1987-George Bush

1996-Bob Dole

2011-Herman Caine

14. Would not surprise me if some of those people who voted for him
didn't even realize he's black.

Can you imagine what the next morning was like for those people when they opened a newspaper and saw their first photograph of Caine? "Martha! I just voted for a black man!:

16. I think the ideologues outnumber the racists.
Putting too much emphasis on race could hurt us as much as it would hurt the conservatives.
Yes, there are some folks who hate PResident Obama because he's black, but I'd put solid money that it far, far more who hate him because of his perceived "socialism".
The teatards could easily vote for a hardcore one of their own like Cain. We underestimate him at our peril, I think.

17. I agree that it's the "socialism" that really scares them.
