MORGAN FREEMAN: ‘RACIST’ TEA PARTY DOING WHATEVER IT CAN ‘TO GET THIS BLACK MAN OUT OF HERE’
The Blaze
September 23, 2011

Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman said Tea Party Republicans are on a racially-fueled mission to get President Barack Obama out of office, in an interview with CNN set to air Friday.

Speaking with host Piers Morgan, Freeman said Obama’s election, instead of curbing racism, has “made it worse.”

“The Tea Partiers who are controlling the Republican Party…their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term,” Freeman said. “What underlines that? Screw the country, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here.”

“But is that necessarily a racist thing?” Morgan pressed.

“It is a racist thing,” Freeman insisted.

Why, people are just upset over the bad economy, that's all.

:sarcasm:

Isn't that what Obama's 24/7 critics always say, whether they're Democrats or Republicans?

Imply that ANYONE to their left is remotely capable of doing, thinking or saying anything that is influenced by race is verboten. That just isn't humanly possible, ever, and you should be ashamed for even THINKING it possible.

Indeed.

But I'll state right here that, obviously, the Teabaggers and the GOP of so racist it's just absurd to even imply otherwise.

I will also state that the milquetoast Obama's obsession with making rich white guys like him is also a race thing. He wouldn't want to remotely appear to vaguely resemble the scary black boogieman they accuse him of being.

Furthermore, Pres. Obama's policies are making "rich white guys" like billionaires Koch Bros. & the CEO of Home Depot, much less Wall Street hedge funders hate him.

33. My problems with Obama have nothing to do with race
but i agree with morgan freeman - there is a lot of racism in the tea party people - their problems with obama are not policy related the way some of us here at DU have issues with his policy decisions and that's really messed up - good on freeman for calling our their racism.

47. What are you talking about?
I'm not a Republican and I have never said such a thing as "race card".

Your comment is off base. I criticize Obama, but have never used race and would agree with Mr. Freeman here.

Your comment is way to general and attacks many of us without need.

I Cornel West using the race card when he criticizes Obama?

12. Yes, sir
The Tea Party started with a rant against Obama's $75 billion bailout plan to help families facing foreclosure stay in their homes. Nary a peep prior to that (or since) for the trillions that were committed to the architects of fraud who undermined the economy in the first place.

Way to go, Morgan.

16. Didn't Morgan Freeman recently post some weird clip
where he was saying something incredibly idiotic like "if people didn't refer to race, it wouldn't be an issue?" It was particularly strange coming from a man of his age and (I thought) caliber.

I guess he's finally let all of that go.

18. Come on Morgan
Make a movie of how stupid and racists the Teabaggers are. The script writes itself, and it would be a hit comedy come this summer. Somebody from the media better start screaming soon. More people need to become aware of what's at stake here. Either a documentary, or have Morgan play Obama and say the things Obama can't say, but make it factual.

19. There is truth to his comment about Obama actually making racism worse.. but its not Obama's fault.
The problem is conservative America was simply not ready for a black man with a scary muslim name to be sitting in the WH and the teaparty "revolution" was the knee jerk reaction to that. Hopefully in time during his next four years in office they will get over it.

I just think that it forced more of it out into the open.

I'm also hoping that this is the kind of last throes venting we often see right before real change kicks in.

It's just more open in some areas. I live in a very red area. Nothing has changed. They were flying their Confederate flags before they knew of the existence of someone called Barack Obama.

I have to wonder if his name was Jamal or Jeb would the conservatives accept him.

and why oh why do so many of us naively post there? I think that The Blaze should be blacklisted UNLESS original poster attacks/criticizes the message in such a blog post. Same with how Fox News and the Daily Mail are often accepted in latest breaking news section.

And Morgan Freeman has a great voice and speaks well with it too.
