O'Reilly threatens to quit if Obama raises his taxes

Bill O'Reilly threatened to quit his show if President Obama raised his taxes.

Speaking on his Monday show, O'Reilly delivered a stinging rebuttal to Obama's speech from earlier in the day. In that speech, Obama introduced his so-called "Buffett Rule" and said that the rich should pay more in taxes. This did not sit well with O'Reilly, who accused Obama of using misleading statistics and of endangering the business climate.

He used himself as an example, saying that he could not ensure his continued tenure on Fox News if his taxes were raised to 50 percent.

"My corporations employ scores of people," he said. "They depend on me to do what I do so they can make a nice salary. If Barack Obama begins taxing me more than 50 percent, which is very possible, I don't know how much longer I'm going to do this. I like my job, but there comes a point when taxation becomes oppressive. Is the country really entitled to half a person's income?"

Of course, if O'Reilly were to leave his show, he might cease to become someone with, in his words, "more power than anybody other than the president."

All the more reason to tax the wealthy!

Also, when did Obama propose a 50% tax on the rich? Or am I missing something?

38. Then he needs to work on getting his other taxes lowered.
Unless he doesn't pay any on some of those. He probably has it set up so that his corporations buys all of his necessities and then he deducts them as business expenses while paying just the pre tax cost.

that he would never believe anything that Bush (mis-)administration said if WMD in Iraq were never found. I'm not 100% positive (since I never listened to him much) but I don't believe he ever kept that promise.

Who cares if he quits? Someone else will take his place. No one turns down income - it would have to be taxed at 100% for that.

26. How much of his revenue is taxable? How much of his income is taxable?
O'Reilly needs to be called out on this. He doesn't get taxed before he pays his employees. He doesn't get taxed on the income that he pays his employees.

AND... he would be able to claim 4 personal exemptions @ $3,700 each for a total of $14,400. And at a minimum of $11,600 for the standard deduction for 2011 tax year he would have at least $26,000 of income that is not taxed. Of course, he is more than likely to have substantially more.

Then these jackasses make it sound like all of their income is taxed at one rate. When only the taxable income that is above $379,150 will be taxed at the highest rate of 35%. The rest of his income is taxed at 5 different lower rates.
