MSNBC-"The Place for Politics"?
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 01:25 PM by jenmito
They haven't seemed to have gotten the memo that not only did McCain/Palin lose in 2008, but Sarah Palin is not even a GOVERNOR anymore. Yet they have anchors following her "book tour," camped out at all of her stops. They breathlessly report on how huge the crowds are, how people in line to buy her book LOVE her because she's so "real," how all of these people "relate" to her as a victim, blah blah blah.

It's ridiculous how hard they're pimping Palin. Andrea Mitchell just called her a "rock star" when asking Mark Murray how others in the Repub. party could possibly ignore her, after Murray said her name was hardly even mentioned at the Repub. Governors' Meeting. They have "Palin-Palooza" covered from ALL angles. Even FAUX doesn't seem to have someone following her book tour. :eyes:

Even on The Daily Show last night, Jon Stewart pointed out how, the night before, VP Joe Biden was a guest on his show, the first time in history that a sitting VP went on the show, and ALL the coverage was about Sarah Palin. I REALLY hope the media gets their wish and it ends up being a Palin-Obama race in '12.

7. But they're not ridiculing her as much as they are praising her.
All the women anchors, Mika Brzezinski, Norah O'Donnell, Andrea Mitchell, etc., are fawning over her for being such a popular figure who other women see as "just like them."

They're the birther/teabagger crowd.

21. Then on The Daily Show
John Oliver went to bookstores in New York to see the huge crowds waiting for Palin's book. The one store only ordered EIGHT copies and customers were generally disinterested. I would appreciate MSNBC coverage a lot more if they'd shown more than one perspective. The Michigan coverage was much too FOX-like.

2. What I find truly appalling is the fact that Sarah Palin is a proven LIAR.
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 01:27 PM by AndyA
Her "thanks but no thanks" bullshit story was debunked over and over again last year, yet she just kept repeating it. And she's treated like she's Saint Sarah by the media. She ought to be ignored for lying to the American people, failing to serve the people of Alaska, and for being a general nit-wit.

Really, they should rename the network: MSTMZ because that's what they really are except for Olbermann, Maddow, and Schultz.

Calling Harvey...

11. Same thing happened when he went to Russia. I don't
remember what the 'event' was, but there was non-stop coverage of Palin when he made that trip. I was appalled - I remember even Countdown and Rachel Maddow had more coverage of her than of the President's meetings with Medvedev and Putin.

the corporatemediawhores who palin is always whining about and palin's lying tour.

She and the mediawhores have done this a number of times to Obama.

6. Amen to that - Stewart had Biden cracking up laughing about the Dems in the Senate - you would think
the media would have been all over that. It was priceless. The only one that picked up on that, to my knowledge, was Tweety in his Sideshow.

8. palin is the eternal victim who got hoisted on her own
petard but our corporatemediawhoredom are a lazy bunch of assholes so there they are.

And, since there's all these palin threads for days now(it has to be played out)..I've been posting this by Andrew Sullivan)

"The Odd Lies of sarah palin" by Andrew Sullivan

<snip>

"After you have read these, ask yourself: what wouldn't Sarah Palin lie about if she felt she had to?

Palin lied when she said the dismissal of her public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, had nothing to do with his refusal to fire state trooper Mike Wooten; in fact, the Branchflower Report concluded that she repeatedly abused her power when dealing with both men.

Palin lied when she repeatedly claimed to have said, "Thanks, but no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere; in fact, she openly campaigned for the federal project when running for governor.

Palin lied when she denied that Wasilla's police chief and librarian had been fired; in fact, both were given letters of termination the previous day.

Palin lied when she wrote in the NYT that a comprehensive review by Alaska wildlife officials showed that polar bears were not endangered; in fact, email correspondence between those scientists showed the opposite.

Palin lied when she claimed in her convention speech that an oil gas pipeline "began" under her guidance; in fact, the pipeline was years from breaking ground, if at all.

Palin lied when she told Charlie Gibson that she does not pass judgment on gay people; in fact, she opposes all rights between gay spouses and belongs to a church that promotes conversion therapy.

Palin lied when she denied having said that humans do not contribute to climate change; in fact, she had previously proclaimed that human activity was not to blame.

Palin lied when she claimed that Alaska produces 20 percent of the country's domestic energy supply; in fact, the actual figures, based on any interpretation of her words, are much, much lower.

Palin lied when she told voters she improvised her convention speech when her teleprompter stopped working properly; in fact, all reports showed that the machine had functioned perfectly and that her speech had closely followed the script.

Palin lied when she recalled asking her daughters to vote on whether she should accept the VP offer; in fact, her story contradicts details given by her husband, the McCain campaign, and even Palin herself. (She later added another version."

39. Well, she's been around for a long time
and her lip gloss was always perfect. During the election she headed the panel and let everyone know that. Rachel said something and Norah's expression was priceless. Mouth wide open as if suppressing, "I can't believe you just said that!" She's always come across as a manipulative little bitch to me. She filled in for Matthews a few times and she was absolutely awful. After her nasty interview with Cindy Sheehan, they didn't use her again.

And not just with the recent book. For the last year and a half. We spent all last fall talking about how lame she was and how she would ruin the McSame campaign, yet we obsess and obsess about her like she's some huge threat; what gives?

Maybe she can suck all the insanity out of the GOP by running as a third party candidate, so they can get their senses back. It's amazing how moderate and sane Republicans can be once they're not in office in this current climate.
