I asked City Council Speaker Christine Quinn why the NY-9 race is so close and she denied it ever was going to be any other way.

She cited looming redistricting (the district is widely speculated to be dropped next year) as one complicating factor. “You’re voting for a Congressman who’s only going to be a Congressman for a year,” she said. “That’s unique.”

She added the district had been trending conservative, noting that Republican Bob Turner ran surprisingly strong against Anthony Weiner in the last election, winning almost 40% of the vote.

Still, she thinks Weprin’s going to pull it out with a superior ground game.

That's what brought many--not all--to the polls. I didn't make this up. It has been reported. There have been interviews with these voters who assert that Obama doesn't support Israel.
