Biden: Criminal charges against Bush Admin on the table
Edited on Tue Sep-13-11 09:41 PM by denem
From Daily Kos:

..Biden also promised that an Obama-Biden government would go through Bush administration data with "a fine-toothed comb" and pursue criminal charges if necessary.

"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation," he said, "they will be pursued, not out of vengeance, not out of retribution - out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no one, no attorney general, no president, no one is above the law."

The man who is very likely going to be the next Vice-President of this country just said that they are going to undertake a detailed review of the last eight years of Bush Administration conduct and pursue criminal charges where they are warranted.

2008. Sad isn't it?

Here's my 2c: Holder's shaggy dog broad brush of Justice has not brought even one executive from Lehmans. AIG. B o A. , Citi, , or other banksters, fraudsters or heisters before a Grand Jury to account for the years of untold misery (and worse) dumped on billions of "outsiders" everywhere. Not that I can remember anyway.

1. Wow, I'd sure vote for the guy who said that!
I want to know if Holder is going to address the Republican voter suppression. That's in the DOJ purview.

and if they downloaded some movies, they're REALLY busted!

I love the idea and sentiment, but between the qualifiers and the whole looking-forward thing, I can't get too enthused, unless they intend the 2nd term to be a completely different experience than the first.

On edit: I didn't read thoroughly, I thought this was recent :(

5. I think if BIden had become POTUS he'd have pursued it --
he told Rumsfeld and Cheney to their faces he'd fire them if he could. Was furious at the Republicans for having Congress over a barrel that if they didn't keep funding Iraq, they would also cut the support and necessities for troops. He called Cheney arguable the worst (most dangerous? I'm fuzzy) VP in the history of the US.

:(

I still love Obama, but I think things would have been much different.

18. Nah, if Biden was President he'd be the guy who knew all the dirty
secret shit about America that only Presidents know, and they protect all those who go before them 'cause someday they'll be one and will need to be protected from the crap that went on during their term(s). It's a vicious cycle and "we the people" are the losers.

I won't ever ever get over the fact they let them go loudly and boisterously and unexamined into the night.

13. To be honest...Bush crimes are not something I care about much right now.
We've got one candidate, a woman, advocating the death of 190,000 women because HPV vaccines should be stopped. And we have another candidate who's pro-death panels, another candidate is concerned about the bust of Churchill being returned to the White House, another candidate is talking about bringing fun to the WH. While the last candidate talked about defending the Palestinians and he was booed.

Anyone of those fools could be president. And I should care about Bush who manipulated the system to do illegal things. Unfortunately, I don't think the American people care much when there are some advocating all of the above...now do you? Or when Bush was given a round of applause before his speech at the 9/11 memorial and Obama wasn't even given recognition when he caught the mastermind.

You should be more concerned withe present and immediate future----because we're in imminent danger.

14. It was combed. Appropriate people were charged.
It continues to be combed.

Unfortunately, people who confuse "legality" and "morality" often do not understand that the two are fundamentally unrelated in the US legal system.

17. ".....no one, no attorney general, no president, no one is above the law."
Jeer at me as a blind follower if you wish, but I FIRMLY believe that this was always in Obama's mind, and from the onset.

"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation," he said, "they will be pursued, not out of vengeance, not out of retribution - out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no one, no attorney general, no president, no one is above the law."

20. Not gonna happen, but there's some consolation to hear Obama/Biden admit
publicly that there are crimes and they're worth investigating.

The blowback would bury Obama's options for anything.

These GOP scoundrels will go so low, you have to enter the dung just to reach them.

Not ganna happen.
