Last night Rachel Maddow slammed Speaker of the House John Boehner for unprecedentedly delaying President Obamas address to Congress for insignificant votes that he said couldnt be moved.

On her MSNBC program Monday, Maddow reported that Boehner had complained there would be important votes scheduled for Wednesday that Obamas address would conflict with and thus could not be interrupted.

With the significant amount of time typically more than three hours that is required to allow for a security sweep of the House Chamber before receiving a president, it is my recommendation that your address be held on the following evening, when we can ensure there will be no parliamentary or logistical impediments that might detract from your remarks, Boehner wrote in a letter to President Obama

The alleged votes that couldnt possibly be missed turned out to be a roll-call vote authorizing the use of the Capitol grounds for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a charity jogging event, and a congratulations to a North Carolina softball team for making the Little League World Series. One vote and some non-binding speechifying, a clearly steamed Maddow lamented.

The Republicans blew it big time by "forcing" the move.

3. Not so sure. I think those on our side see it that way,
those on the other see it as Boehner showing the Black guy who's boss.

4. "Important votes on Wednesday"
Coincidentally, Wednesdays are when Beltway bars have double happy hours.

5. Rachel mentioned it--but where is the rest of the media that focus so much attention on
the White House's scheduling fiasco. That's all we heard from Beltway 'journalists' for an entire week. And they follow-up that sensationalism with....'crickets' when the substance of the dispute is revealed.
