How can ANYBODY think this man is suitable to be President?
Edited on Mon Sep-12-11 09:42 PM by EffieBlack
Exact quote from Rick Perry at a Tea Party post-debate rally - said while he was prowling around the stage like a smarmy evangelist selling a free dollop of salvation with every bottle of snake oil:

"We're gonna tell the EPA we don't need you monkeyin' around and fiddlin' around and gittin' in our bidness on every kind of regulation that you can dream up. Yer doin' nothin' more than killin' jobs. It is a cemetery for jobs at the EPA and Mr. Cain hit the spot tonight when he said you need to put someone in there who's gonna be a pro jobs, pro American Administrator and tell 'em every day this is gonna be about creatin' jobs in America."

I am not among those hoping that he gets the nomination. He is too dangerous to be allowed that close to the possibility of winning the the presidency. We need to do everything we can to keep this man as far away as possible from getting any more power than he already has.

2. You have certainly
got that 100% correct! This man is too dangerous to be even that close to the possibility of allowing people to think about maybe casting a single vote for him. :scared:

4. Exactly
I can't go along with those who are praying that Perry is the nominee because they think he'll be so easy to beat. You just don't play around with something like this and the last thing we need to do is let this man get anywhere near the White House. The electorate is very flaky and no telling how they'll end up voting on any given day - lots of people laughed at George W 11 years ago.

Rick Perry is too dangerous to laugh at.

5. Unfortunately, we live in a country where millions voted for Palin.
And they let bush hold the white house for 8 years. I don't see any empirical evidence that many won't be just as stupid this time.

Just not campaigns for blue dogs and reagan democrats. Plenty to do for the real things at the local level.

6. Easy. You just have to ignore all that has happened since 1900.
Do that, and it all makes sense. There is no global warming. The planet is infinite, and can absorb and provide for ulimited "harvesting" of resources, and the spoils from rough and raw production.

Simples!

14. Yep.
Hand picked by rove when he was managing george's gov. campaign. Word was that he was looking for someone who could make bush look smart when he stood on stage with him. I think he nailed it.

13. What's really frightening is that there is a good chance he could win.
People thought Obama was coming out of no where and he won it. America is a nation of idiots at times that idiots normally come out on top.

I never voted for him or Perry or any other Republican in more than a quarter century. There are a few wise people in this state.

19. It is stunning to me that people here at DU do not get it ...
But, the answer to the question in the OM is - the republican party.

Sorry, but Rick Perry is the very embodiment of the Republican Party in 2011 - mean, loud and complete upfront in rejecting reason and reality.

20. omg...I saw that..it was unbelievable....it's amazingly stupid of him
not to realize how crazy he sounds. Surely, surely there is someone around him that realizes that this kind of demeanor would never fly in a general election? I mean, I know Texas is an island and people don't even know about the world around him but surely a single person on his campaign knows.

I can not imagine saner Republicans on the national scene would allow this nutcase to throw the chance of getting the WH back.

I think taking the 99-1 odds, running against him would be worth taking. We can't let any Republican in or this country's history.
