1. Of course not, and I'm sure Obama knows that.

But he put them on the spot. He's trying to make it obvious to the public that the GOPers are a bunch of greedy assholes.

4. Yeah, and he won reelection and got full control of the Congress.
He just obliterated the Republican party. Their only choice is to pass the bill and hope to god it fails and doesn't bring in jobs, otherwise they're toast.

9. Let's amend that to boorish, giggling greedy assholes.
Dana Milbank in The Washington Post reported that GOP members of both the House and Senate were acting like schoolboys during the speech.

No offense to actual schoolboys is intended.

5. Obama threw down the gauntlet. He made it clear they must do SOMETHING to help.

6. Let's have some up or down votes and put them on record
So far the Democrats just throw up their hands instead of using the Republican obstructionism as a marketing tool.

7. I have hope the American people will shame them into it. I haven't heard the Repubs
denouncing the speech to loudly.

8. Obama's not stupid. He knows they want to Koch-block.
Obama's brilliant in that his speech can be boiled down to one sentence. PASS A JOBS BILL, DAMMIT!!! And he got that message to millions across the nation, with the GOP on-screen being served the message, so he's got them in a spot. Pass a bill, or get blamed for the economic crash.
