It was 38/55 on August 28. Not great but it's progress. :bounce:

1. Good! And I noticed that DU is not bashing as much after last night's debate
.. the visceral reality hits home. We luv our President more today than yesterday!

2. May go up tonight
Obama's approval fluctuates with how much he is out there. I remember when it was high and the pundits were so upset he was taking up too much time and thought he should not.

3. that cannot be true because

1) he has no idea what he is doing

2) Obama's numbers always go down and never go up

3) DU has already concluded that Obama is going down to a major electoral defeat.

4) He never got the nomination in the first place so he never ran in the GE and never was sworn in.

5) If he got the nomination he couldn't win the GE and was never sworn in.

6) If he got the nomination and then won the GE his poll numbers would never have been over 30 at any time, including now.

4. Well, you are right. Not great. Not bad. His combined poll average is still around 42%.
(see below link)

And it really hasn't moved much at all from the August date of the Gallup poll you mention among the rest.

I didn't place a lot of weight on that 8/29 or 8/30 Gallup when it came out, because it seemed pretty anomalous among all the others running in the 42-44% range around those dates. Which is still pretty much where he is overall. He's been steady in the low 40's over the past few months.

That is a somewhat appreciable decline from late spring, though, when he was still running in the higher 40's to breaking 50's. (see graph)
