President Obama was the winner last night.
I purposely did not watch the debate, I did log onto DU (thank you for the threads) and of course have been listening this morning to various opinions. I notice Morning Joe and crew, except for Halpern, were not at all enthusiastic about Perry's performance, they were lukewarm about Romney and the rest were sort of a blur.

As much as the President drives me up a wall, after watching the pubs and listening to their inane opinions on science and social security, none of them should be allowed even near the White House. I look forward to the President's speech tonight. The nation will at least have an opportunity to digest and compare him to what they heard last night. A stark contrast and I would imagine the President's numbers will surge...

5. Not really....
Last night's debate was more like "Who is the biggest dumbass on stage". And, I must say, the republicans had a stellar line-up!
They all did remarkably well in looking foolish, but if I had to pick the head fool, I'd have to give that honor to Gingrich or Bachman. You really can't fix stupid, and these two have made a career of over-achieved stupidity. Now, I have to give Perry his props, he pretty damned stupid, but Newt and igmo Michelle have him out-classed in raw stupidity.

But, I would agree the president benefitted from the whole shebang.
