They all have the same energy/jobs policy
And it depends on climate change not being true. They all talk about how we can create jobs and send less money overseas by completely opening up our energy production: oil, coal, shale, gas, etc. It makes a lot of sense if you don’t care about pollution or climate change. The idea works if you exist in a bubble that ignores inconvenient facts, and it is very alluring without the consideration of the very dire long-term ramifications.

It was so clear to me tonight to see them all talking the same talk. This is their solution to the economy and what they attack Obama for. It is the difference between a short-term easy solution (drill baby drill) that ignores the long-term destruction versus a more difficult, more painful solution that creates a much better future. Obama and the Dems want to regulate the pollution and protect us, trying to steer the country in a new direction of renewable fuels. The GOP just wants to develop resources and create jobs that way. It is a real throwback to the 19th and 20th Centuries. This is why they don’t want to believe in climate change. It is truly "an inconvenient truth"!!

1. The GOP can't believe in climate change
They CAN'T believe in climate change. Their entire energy and jobs plan depends on it not existing. It is not just about science denial. It is about not wanting to believe anything that gets in the way of what they want.

This is the same thing that got us into Iraq: deny what you don't want to see so you can do what you want to do, unimpeded. It is the Republican MO. It can also be described as avoiding long-term consequences for short-term gain, in this case, more jobs and a stronger economy now, at the risk of profound pollution, increasing illness, and very dangerous and destructive climate change in the future. Obama is attempting to balance the short-term and the long-term needs. How to do that can be debated. But the GOP only focuses on immediate gratification.
