comment on the Ponzi scheme is going to sink him. It is not young people that are voting in the Primaries, but older people.

1. If I was Obama I would hang that albatross around Perry's neck.
That might be enough right there.

3. His experience as a presidential candidate is a great asset tonight
He is offering very interesting insights about how a candidate thinks going into and during a debate.

Nice job.

6. Not in the primary it won't ...
Sorry, this is a republican party that has jumped the shark from reality to complete, total and unabashed belief in the BS they are selling, from the loons on the state tonight to most of the people who will vote.

I know COUNTLESS Rs who actually believe SS is a really bad thing and are DYING to see it killed.

Beyond that, they aren't listening to the content, it is all these lunatics saying the same exact stuff over and over. They are looking for someone who is mean, angry and is willing to disconnect from reality - like they are.

Again, this WHOLE field is a bunch of psycopaths, his being the biggest psychopath is an asset.

7. I will say that SS is bought and paid for by workers and should never be done away with...
I see a big problem with Gov't. dipping into these funds and not paying it back.

10. remember when candidate Obama...
...talked about levying the payroll tax on incomes over $500,000 to $2 million or thereabouts? That is exactly what we needed, and it wouldn't have to be at the same rate as the first $106,000 income. It could be as low as 2 percent. THAT would save Social Security.

11. Me, too ...
It has been one of the most significant parts of our country's success over the last 70 years or so. It is a VERY solid system, and it only needs the appropriate tweaks to keep it solvent.

But, sadly ... We have an entire political party that has LONG had destroying it as a goal, and which has lost its mind in total, and our party is 1/3 bought, 1/3 cowardly and 1/3 committed to keeping it in place.

It is bizarre, there is no reason to F with it, but I don't see how it does not happen - the populace in this country just has no will at all to keep our higher elected officials in check on the REAL issues - we have SIMPLE solutions to our big problems that can get this country in a MUCH better place, but instead of progressing forward in the best possible manner we are now, in the year 2011 on the brink of doing crape to set us back.

Just mind bending.

12. Rev. Sharpton may be smart
but that thought is the oldest conventional wisdom out there. Which I believe is true, by the way. My whole adult life I've heard conservatives who hate Social Security, and want to see it die, pretend to be protecting it because it's such a popular program, especially with people who are currently getting checks.

Of course, conventional wisdom is true until the day someone proves it's false. Maybe Perry can be honest and win. I don't think so, I think he's probably just stupid. Or maybe undisciplined. He seemed to be distancing himself from that book, but maybe last night he just slipped up and embraced it by mistake.
