Perry again calls Social Security a 'Ponzi scheme'

Rick Perry refused to back down on his critique of Social Security, calling it a "Ponzi scheme" and a "monstrous lie" during the debate.

"The Republican candidates are talking about ways to transition this program, and it's a monstrous lie," he said. "It's a Ponzi scheme."

Perry continued: "Anybody that's for the status quo with Social Secrity today is involved with a monstrous lie to our kids."

The governor also slammed Karl Rove, who chided the governor earlier Wednesday for the views in his book.

"Karl has been over the top for a long time in some of his remarks," he said. "I'm not responsible for his remarks anyone."

And naturally, Mitt Romney jumped in on the criticisms of Perry's Social Security views.
