*Sigh*

It's kinda sad >Buddy Roemer< is the only candidate out there seriously talking about real campaign finance reform as a central issue.

It should definitely be a Democratic and Progressive issue. As should term limits for Congress.

If corruption is not reduced none of the other issues are going to be tackled in a meaningful way. Bank on that.

1. You actually think that any Congress would enact that in a million years?
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 11:06 PM by FrenchieCat
Cause I don't.

But yes, it is a great issue, but it only sounds good
as long as one understands that it's only a promise
that won't be deliverable. :(

The nation is done if we keep going down the path of cronyism.

3. I'm no pessimist.....
nor a doomer and gloomer....

But at the same time, I know what's been done over time.....
so you can call me a realist.

But go ahead with it....I'll sign the petition! Certainly.

Which is exactly why I DON'T expect
everything that comes out of someone's mouth
who is running for office to get done.

That's why I'm not one of the disappointed ones,
that whine and moans all of the time cause someone
was supposed to have "change"d the world by now....
at the very least.

We can end slavery and pass tCRA but we can't reduce this manner of government corruption?

I'd agree nothing will be done if a whole lot of people don't get behind it. It would need >epic< momentum.

People need to get organized and loud about it.

I'm no starry eyed optimist. I know it's a heavy Atlas sized lift.

I'd like to see them stop the advertising of prescription only drugs on TV.

I'd don't want a lot, do I? :D

10. Well, by the time they finish reading that long ass list of
all of the ways that the drug might just kill you,
Am not even sure why they bother. Seems counterproductive
for them....to me, anyways.

8. Curious: Could Campaign Finance Reform be brought to Supreme Court?
Although the Supreme court leans Conservative i am just curious if such an issue can be brought up and reform could be done there because there is no chance that Congress even with democratic super majority would ever even bring it up for a vote. And having Obama and his love for center-right anythings he will be sure to veto it if by a miracle it did get passed in congress.

Hell Obama hasn't even started campaigning yet and folks are already talking about what ISN'T being being talked about yet!
