RE: Disrespect of President Obama. Have ALL the Dems in Congress
disavowed what's going on? I have not been able to watch or read any news this weekend, but my sister just wondered where they are.

Are they piping up? Thanks in advance.

1. the real question is "has Obama" fought back and defended himself? ummm don't think so
if he won't fight back and defend himself it is not other people's responsibility.

2. Exactly. Obama needs to stand up for himself
He's got the bully pulpit and he's not a child.

20. I think he's trying to be the president
and do his job. His job is not to spend time and energy over petty squabbling. You can't control other people's behavior, only your own...And he is one of few in Washington who has behaved as he should.

3. He's been railing against "Congress."
He seems unwilling to distinguish between good Democrats and obstructionist Republicans.

Every time I see a Dem on tv they say in their own individual way that they don't understand this president.

I don't at all believe they wouldn't rush to his defense if needed, but maybe the way this whole thing was handled, they wanted no part of it.

5. Excellent point
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 09:03 PM by Cali_Democrat
One of Obama's most recent emails to supporters attacks "Congress" but makes no specific mention of the Republicans. He just attacks the entire Congress without even distinguishing between Republicans and Dems.

See here...http://www.barackobama.com/news/tell-congress-to-step-up

The notion that these same Dems, who are being attacked by the Administration, should actively protect him from Republican disrespect is laughable.

The President is supposed to stand up for "everyone else".. but "everyone else" gets to throw brickbats at the President..

6. Doncha know......
Disrespect for this President comes from all sides, 24/7.

He has to work what is called a tough room!
He's tough....he can take it!
Jackie Robinson would be extremely proud of this magnificent strong black man.

7. Why is he giving the donkey and not the elephant a dirty look?
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 11:25 PM by Cali_Democrat
It looks like the elephant and Obama are teaming up against the donkey.

Also, if you look at the feet, Obama is standing closer to the elephant.

That says it all!

That's the problem.

Not only should Obama stand up and fight, he can't expect Dems in Congress to do it when he's attacking them.

Your OP is ridiculous.

15. Ugh ...
Cause the one that SHOULD have his back is poking him in the back ...

1/3 of the dems are bought by the same people who have all the Rs bought ...
1/3 of the dems are cowering in a corner afraid of their shadows ...
1/3 of the dems are reasonably good progressives who aren't happy with him ...

8. I'm appalled that there is no answer to my question other than
the railing from the people I expect to be anti-Obama. Funny how that works.

NO ONE is being a tad bit outspoken in support? If not, there's a big part of this problem.

11. What should they be saying?
Many of the Democrats have had his back, even as he fails to support things they got into government for. Some, like the awful debt ceiling agreement, might have been the best of a very bad situation.

That is NOT true of the unilateral agreement to accept clean air standards WORSE than those he called illegal when Bush set them in 2008 - instead, they are rolling back to standards from I think 1996! To make matters worse - he did this FOR NOTHING. At a point where the Republicans are requiring hostages for doing routine things - he just gave them a big gift - and their reaction is - of course - that it is not enough.

I had thought that one thing that would really hurt Scott Brown in Massachusetts was his two votes to gut the EPA regulation of green house gases - but this is worse - affecting not just green house gases at a point where we need to do more, not less. How do Massachusetts Democrats hold Brown - and not Obama - accountable?

On this issue, I would say that it their loyalty to Obama that has kept Al Gore and John Kerry silent - because I would bet their opinion is that this is a terrible decision. One thing it brings back to me was that on the This Week interview when the Kerry's were speaking of their environmental book - Teresa was asked which candidate she thought was good enough on the environment. Honest as always, her answer was that NONE were at that point (spring 2007). Kerry quickly spoke of all the Democrats being better than all of the Republicans, but when pushed he agreed with his wife. The environment is not Obama's issue.

For more and more Democrats, their issue is not Obama's - yet, all would say that on any issue, he is better than the Republicans. That might be the strongest defense on many of these things.

13. Good question
No Democrat should just sit back and watch this President and his family be continuously disrespected. Even non-political junkies are taking notice, even though they wish Obama would go gangsta on the GOP and media.

18. He could but,
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 10:53 PM by politicasista
you won't be able to say that to the those out there in the social network land.

They tore Roland Martin apart when he tweeted that Obama "caved" (IMO, Boner looks like the fool) instead of calling every disrespectful tactic for what it is.

Racism, Racism, Racism:

In the media, the GOP/Tea Party, and some Democrats. They are tired of Democrats not getting behind this President, when they all got behind his Dem predecessor Clinton and said nothing when Bush was destroying everything; leaving him (O) out there by himself.

They are also threatening not to vote for Democrats anymore after 2016. You could say when the "rock star" is attacked, then it must be someone else's fault. People are very, very protective of him and if anyone says something out of line (including Democrats that have/had this president's back), they will be attacked. That's the way it is.

As risky as this is, it is time for Democrats in Congress to stop being afraid of the other R-word and call this blatant disrespect for what it is. They did it once for a stained blue dress, they can do it for a multiracial President.

21. How about the President stand up for himself?
He's already thrown democrats in congress under the bus on several occasions. Frankly many congressional Dems don't like the way this president has operated and don't feel he has their back. And I don't blame them.

19. Not much going on...
except the Hoffa situation which FOX edited to skew things.

With congress just getting back to DC, hard to tell, they've done their usual...nothing.

It will be a day or two before the next blowout. One thing I can say, the GOP "debate" should be fun...:D
