President Obama previews jobs plan, warns GOP against 'more games'
http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/801-economy/179519-obama-previews-jobs-plan-warns-gop-against-more-games

President Obama on Monday set the stage for his major jobs speech this week by calling on Washington to end political games and enact tax cuts and infrastructure spending.

(snip)
“No more manufactured crises, no more games,” he said in reference to the summer's debt ceiling debacle.

He challenged the GOP to get on board with his plan to extend payroll tax cuts.

“You say you are the party of tax cuts,” he said. ““We're going to see if congressional Republicans can put country before party....Show us what you got.”

2. I sure hope so
I really do. But I just don't see it happening. Fighting for something just does not seem to be in this President's DNA.

7. How supportive of you!

Have you been doing the "snarks" long?

How does this help you? How does it help us?
How does it help the folks you obviously care so much about,
till you'd be willing to do just about anything for them,
if it was in your power to make a difference?

15. Better get your shivs in now, sock puppets.

Because in two days, your masters are going to have you doing your jobs instead of posting here. But it will be too late, because while you're great at subversion, you don't know jack shit about running a government.

Which is why this President just took away all of the Republican Party's input into that government, quite possibly forever.

Two days. So get your "he's got it" swipes in now.

3. He needs to count to five..that's when Mom quits nagging and
brings the hammer down on recalcitrant kids. When the word "five" comes out, kids better be moving on what they were told to do. They don't get a "six"

14. I have been a supporter of Obama through out all of his term. Slowly but
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 04:01 PM by demosincebirth
surely he has disapointed me in not striking back at these knuckledragers. How much more clearly do they have to tell him that they are not going to compromise with him? They said it very clearly that their main purpose was to make him a one-term president. I wonder if he heard that? I keep re-playing FDR's old speeches and the way he handled those republicans at that time. Just wish we could see some of that in Obama. I will support him for re-election, but my balloon is slowly deflating.

13. The coming attack from the right....
Yes, I work on Labor day.... Today when I came into my job the three teahadists that I work with started grumbling about Obama's upcoming jobs speech..... They had a central message and this is what they said.

Admiral Mullen CJCS said "The national debt is the greatest threat to our national security"

The teahdists take is If Obama asks for more stimulus spending in his speech, the reply will be that Obama is intentionally risking our national security because the current debt is unsustainable and will lead to economic collapse. Any spending must be offset with cuts so if the President wants infrastructure spending or job program spending then he must cut entitlement programs of Social Security and Medicare.

I said what about all the debt that Bush racked up? and as the President said he was left with:
- 2 unpaid wars
- an unpaid for Prescription drug plan
- unpaid for tax cuts.

And then I got attacked....

- 2 unpaid wars - Obama was elected to end those wars and bring our troops home he failed. Obama escalated the war in Afghanistan and started a third war in Libya, is thinking about a fourth war in Syria and has used drone attacks on Yemen and Kenya, all unpaid for.

- Prescription drug plan - If it is such a debt maker then why did Obama as Senator vote for it, now as President he offerred no plan to fix it or lower the costs or pay for it and in fact Obama has created a monstrous healthcare plan that will increase the unfunded furture liabilities by trillions that is if the SCOTUS doesn't shoot it down because it is unconstitutional.

- Tax cuts - Obama himself extended those unpaid for Bush tax cuts and created the making work pay tax credit and a ton of other tax credits that are all unpaid for.

Finally, they get me with this .... Do you remember that Bush was rejected as a failed President that had the lowest approval rating of any President when he left office, is that what Obama is trying to accomplish? Obama has not really changed anything Bush did and in fact he has doubled down on most of it.

I deal with this on most days but today was particularly tough....
