He had virtually NO experience in the Teamsters union, but the "Old Guard" picked him to defeat the reform president (Carey). Ironically (?), some of his backers may well have a hand in "offing" his daddy! VERY bad background, but he may have "evolved" into something good.

11. Being "grandfathered" into membership is fairly common in unions,

particularly for children of union officials. But what I had said is correct. As per his father's wishes, he was trained a lawyer. And it wasn't until the (corrupt!) Old Guard needed a "name" to run against the reform president (Carey) that Hoffa junior was propelled into his resent position, BTW: he wasn't adopted as I had first thought.
