it looks like to me that Palin is setting herself up to run as an Independent.
Or if she is planning on running as a Republican she is going to do it by breaking 'all' tradition and wait to jump in VERY late and 'without' big donor donations (so she can bash Obama and Republicans for their fund-raising) - having the grassroots foot the bill for her campaign.

Sarah Palin disappoints the 2012 die-hards in Iowa

INDIANOLA, IOWA – The 2,000 people who came from across the country to see Sarah Palin address a tea party rally here Saturday wanted one thing: To hear her say she’s running for president.

SNIP

But instead of a declaration, the Palin supporters at the Tea Party of America event got an intensely political speech from the former Alaska governor that scorched President Obama and the “permanent political class” of both parties.

In what could be seen subtly contrasting herself against the announced candidates in the Republican field — especially Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Rep. Michele Bachmann, who are both mounting their campaigns on appeals to the same kinds of voters with whom Palin resonates most — she slung an attack at the Republican candidates who “raise mammoth amounts of cash.”

“We need to ask them, too: What, if anything, do their donors expect in return for their investments?” She noted gleefully, “I don’t play that game, either, of hiring expert political advisers just so they’ll say something good about me on TV.”

p.s. I'm sure Palin and/or her advisers know that Obama's campaign is going to try to top his 2008 donations - and it looks like Palin will play dirty and use that against him!

There is only one person in the whole whole that I totally detest - if you can't guess who that is then see the photo below :)

3. The Real Sarah Palin just stood up. When she goes after Crony
Capitalists, the real Sarah Palin is showing up to the
ball and the Establishment will be ready to take her down.

We all know, do we not--In Alaska, Palin took on the
Oil Company(ies). First let me explain, in Alaska the
oil belongs to the "people" and therefore each Alaskan
recives royalties on the oil. Before Sarah was elected
Crony Capitalism and Corruption permeated the place.
Bottom Line, Sarah was able to keep the legislature with
her as she took on Big Oil and rooted out the corruption.
End result she was able to get enough money to mail every
Alaskan a very big check. The Laws were changed and Sarah
knocked a home run out of the park. This is not exactly
the kind of story that one thinks of when they think Republican.
This is not exactly the kind of Republican the Business
and Financial Institutions want.

Watch the Republicans go after her. Remember the original
Tea Party started over their fury with Banks and Auto Cos.

Interesting times.

7. She's not going to run. She's all about money. She wants....
the others to compete for her endorsement.

Then she'll be paid for endorsement speeches. She can tour the country on behalf of that candidate. She'll stay in the spotlight. She'll continue to be viable. She still has a contract with Fox, so she can speak about that candidate on Fox. It's a win win for her.

I don't see any advantage to her running as an Independent. She'd have to drum up contributions, hire an expensive staff who'd try to tell her what to do, how to act, how to dress. Sure, at the end of it (because she'd lose), she'd be even more famous and command even more money. But she'd risk becoming a joke because of things she'd no doubt say on the campaign trail.
