Keith and Joe Romm, senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, discuss Obama's decision to scuttle new, tighter pollution regulations until 2013, sticking with the ones his own EPA director called "legally indefensible" just last month. "This is worse than what the Bush administration wanted to do on air pollution," Romm says.

4. It was Sunstein's job to send the letter and to send the rule back, not Obama's. n/t

5. Sunstein can draft, but real weight comes with the person who signed it. I disregard
letters all the time when they are signed by an underling. It tells me that whomever is in charge doesn't have the time sign their name, then they don't really care about what it says and can't be bothered to really care.

6. You have to be kidding right?
Cass Sunstein is the Administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

Do you think that The President should sign every letter that Hillary over at the State Dept or Holder at the DOJ, etc sends out?

There would not be enough hours in the day for Obama to personally sign everything.

12. I'm not making excuses, just stating an opinion. Not sure what your little laugh emote is suppose
to represent. This policy could have dire consequences.

15. Obama Derangement Syndrome is obvious here
This policy does not have dire consequences. It is decision number 456,588 for a Presidential Administration. It is simply being used here for Derangement Syndrome symptom #3,554,443.

8. So, you're happy with the decision.
Edited on Sat Sep-03-11 06:27 PM by Mass
Because, this time, this is not the fault of the GOP. They have no say in this decision. Obama decided to let people down for no good reasons (except may be to follow Cantor's lead with his no regulation job creation). And we should not care.

9. How can he not give a shit
about clean air. He has two kids. They are the ones who will reap what he is sowing with a decision like this. This is cold.

10. That's what I never understand about the rightwingers either - they
all have kids and grand kids that will be affected by pollution, climate change, lack of safety standards, etc. How do they not realize that future generations of their own family will be harmed by their regulation-free utopia?

13. Obama does give a shit. You'd know that if you looked at his record regarding the environment.

Expand access to places to hunt and fish

Administration advances land program created under Bush

Updated: Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 | By Louis Jacobson

During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama promised to "support the Open Fields Incentives legislation that provides incentives to farmers and ranchers who voluntarily open their land to hunting, fishing and other wildlife-related activities."

Open Fields is a provision inserted into the 2008 Farm Bill that passed Congress and was signed by President George W. Bush. It offers financial assistance to states that run voluntary programs to encourage private landowners to allow public access to their land. It also requires participating landowners to use best practices for fish and wildlife management.
