"Sen. Bayh Says He'll Bring Health Care Bill To Floor"
This from one of the conservaDem holdouts....

Clearing The Way: Sen. Bayh Says He'll Bring Health Care Bill To Floor
Christina Bellantoni | November 19, 2009, 10:37AM

Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) has pledged to vote to bring the health care bill to the floor, a procedural hurdle that would allow the Senate to start debating the $849 billion plan.

Without promising he'd back the final plan, Bayh told the Hill newspaper he would support the first cloture motion that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid files. Several conservative Democrats had suggested they might vote against that, and Republicans have threatened to use those procedural votes as political fodder.

Bayh said:

"At the end of the process, I'll avoid the Washington two-step of voting to go forward but then voting against the final bill. But this is just a starting point, so at this point I do think there's a difference."He joins Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE), who suggested yesterday he would do the same.

1. A step - albeit a tiny one - in the right direction.
Damn... I can't believe this was ever in doubt.

3. I think the only one we haven't heard from is Lincoln......
..... and "The Page" currently has as its headline "There's something about Mary (Landrieu)....." with "Developing" under the headline.

http://thepage.time.com/

This is what Mary said yesterday....

"Sen. Reid gave me some assurances that some of my concerns will be dealt with," said Landrieu, who stressed she would not make a decision on whether to vote for the motion to proceed until the text of the bill was released, and she had a chance to review some of the provisions again.

"I’ve been very clear. There are two or three issues," she told CNN. "One, does this bill actually drive down costs to individuals, to businesses and to the government. Number two, is there a quote, public option that will undermine the private insurance market - and if there is, it needs to come out at some point. It needs to come out at some point.

"And then thirdly, have we done the very best we can to help small businesses afford this health insurance. So he gave me some assurances along those lines that he’s working hard towards those goals, but until I see the bill I can’t give you a definite.”

Well Mary, now you've seen the bill...........

4. Hey Mary: How about those people in your district who are DYING because they have no health care?
What about them? Do they matter at all? Or are business profits more important?

You represent the PEOPLE, not the CORPORATIONS. DO YOUR FUCKING JOB! (For a change.)

15. guess landrieu missed that free health clinic event down the street...
the one where some patients simply went home to die because their medical conditions were no longer curable.

yeah, guess you missed that one, mary.

9. I still scratch my head this guy was on the Veep short list.
What is it with democrats and picking the biggest sociopath they can find for the #2 spot the past 3 election cycles....at least the President broke that cycle by not picking this guy...but he made it to being second place in the sweepstakes.

13. The Citizens and I can name about 2 or 3 from their congressional delegation
I lived there for 3 years. Made Allentown look like San Francisco.

16. So name them.
Many of the republicans here are of the "Dan Burton, bat-shit crazy" persuasion and we have our share of DINOs but "literally...neo-nazis"?

17. Hey now, not ALL of Indiana
Indianapolis is not like a lot of what you describe. I'm originally from Philadelphia and well, save for Dorney Park, Allentown was no great shakes. Be careful to not paint all Hoosiers with the same brush, there are many including me and I think Jokerman who posted earlier, who like Evan Bayh a whole lot less than non-Hoosiers who aren't remotely familiar with him do.

18. I almost married a girl from out there
despite the break-up I'm pretty sure she had a lot of redeeming qualities..

Indy is fine, the Indy suburbs are scary, Bloomington is probably the most liberal place in the midwest. Fort Wayne where I lived scared the ever living shit out of me.
