Boehner blames weak jobs report on 'threat of higher taxes'

by Jed Lewison

John Boehner:

Private-sector job growth continues to be undermined by the triple threat of higher taxes, more failed 'stimulus' spending, and excessive federal regulations. Together, these Washington policies have created a fog of uncertainty that's left small businesses unable to hire and American families worried about the future.

Yeah, okay, the 'threat of higher taxes' is responsible for today's weak jobs report except:
  1. Republicans control the House, so there's no way taxes are going up unless John Boehner wants them to go up.

  2. Apparently, John Boehner does want taxes to go up, because Republicans are refusing to extend the payroll tax cut for another year. That tax cut would benefit every single taxpayer, but since it isn't explicitly targeted to "job creators," it doesn't count.

Excellent comment here

He has one card...

and he has to play it. Lower taxes is all he has left to offer the American public. He is as boxed in, and in some ways, moreso than Obama.

Obama needs to starting talking about the Republicans as one trick ponies, lower taxes for wealthiest, the richest people and the largest corporations. They have no other policy. People need to die, lose their jobs and not find new ones, go hungry, without police and fire protection, without good schools, without good roads and safe bridges, so that the rich may have their tax cuts. And then do the litany of what Republicans and the rich have done with the money from those tax cuts, casino gambling on Wall Street, riskier and riskier investments that eventually crashed the world economy, caused unemployment to shoot up, to complete what had been a gradual drain of jobs and transfer of wealth into a flood. And then refused to allow any real aid to the people robbed by Democrats in hopes of winning more political power so they can steal what is left of people's savings and end Medicare and Social Security.

Ten minutes and a couple of charts and the entire last decade can be explained to people. And it needs to be repeated once an hour every day all across the country, local and state Democrats, charity groups trying to fill in the chasm left by cut backs in government and by the national Democrats.

1. It's almost comedic. Tax cuts didn't bring jobs, now the "threat" of higher taxes
is suppressing job growth. Why does anyone believe this nonsense?

2. They are always so well prepared to spin.
Anyone who believes that the RW got religion over the break is mistaken. They have one goal...one term for Obama.
