Today, I caved and I'm so ashamed

I had scheduled a 1pm meeting with the customer.

At 12:30, they called and said they had a conflict and asked if I could move the meeting to 3pm.

I (gulp) caved and said yes.

I'm so ashamed. I should've stood firm on the 1pm time slot and told them to go to hell. What was I thinking?

6. The speech will be BEFORE the game.
Excerpt:

A White House official says "We won't conflict with football," meaning an early time frame for the speech.

20. Thanks for posting that, I was wondering about that.
Seemed like a bad time to have a speech. Should have an interesting quip about enjoying football, imo.

Sounds like a rough business if your clients behave like Republicans.

16. OK that's a funny analogy we can laugh at but it's naive.
In the real world we'd be asking where "Mrs. Scheming Daemons" was at around 12:30.

He's got to start drawing boundaries, backing up his verbal positions and saying "no" to Republicans or they will simply push harder. These guys are not the sane Republicans of old. The new Republicans are ideological sharks so "reason and compromise" just translates as "blood in the water" to them. With no immediate legislation at stake this might have been a good time to pick a public fight with Republicans and win one even if the victory was small.

17. A more apt comparison would be if you had a meeting with a competitor who wanted you out of business
Edited on Wed Aug-31-11 11:25 PM by Azathoth
And once you agreed to his "request", you then turned to your fellow co-workers and told them they would have to rearrange their schedules because you wanted to accomodate the guy who was trying to put them out of business.

23. you were the one bragging and saying "bwa ha ha ha ha!!!"
crowing about Obama's brilliant dickishness (that was your word).

Well if you go that route, then this is indeed a humiliating defeat, and you have no place mocking anyone.

Not everyone went that route, fortunately.

27. It depends on whether the "customer" is trying to ruin you, your family, and your community or not.
Most businesses don't have to deal with customers like that, they call the police on them.

Ones that do, like parole officers, don't cave. They order the criminals about without compunction.

This is more like the position Obama is in than a business, by far.

Obama must bend over for his favorite customers....The Republicans!
NOW I understand.
Brilliant analogy!

not by their excuses.
