Say Hello to Co-President John Boehner!
This couldn't have been done without our great media and its endless presentation of false equivalences. Also, a hat tip to whoever on Obama's team scheduled his speech against the stupid debate to begin with.

While I feel that this scheduling shouldn't have been a problem, it seems a little past time for the administration to start predicting an insane reaction from the GOP instead of hoping that they'll act in a civilized, responsible manner. I'm not sure how many more times the White House needs to get burned before they reconfigure their perpetually defensive interaction with the press.

1. When a country is reduced to being appalled about a speech scheduling.....
while sitting on their asses while the Supreme Court decided who would be President,
I'm thinking we've got our priority exactly right!

3. I'm trying to imagine the reaction of the GOP if Nancy Pelosi had told GWB that he couldn't talk
The right-wing would be fanning the flames of this for months.

5. Yes, an asinine op to go with an asinine GOP media circus
I can't believe that our politics has now dropped to a level where the GOP can veto when the President chooses to speak.

9. This Has Always Been My Complaint With Obama and His People
I'm not sure how many more times the White House needs to get burned before they reconfigure their perpetually defensive interaction with the press (and rethugs).

They seem to live in a different dimension and keep believing that the rethugs are going to change and start playing fair. Wake up Obama & co.!

13. Somehow I just can't equate "I'd like to come talk to you. Can we do it on Wednesday?"
"No, Wednesday doesn't work. How about Thursday?" "OK, Thursday it is." to Lucy, Charlie Brown and the football.

That's a HUGE stretch that really doesn't comport with reality.

14. You're right. The President is STILL giving his speech to Congress.
And he has the advantage of rebutting whatever the GOP candidates have to say the night before.

I'm hearing detractors say that only political wonks will bother watching anyway. That means that Joe Average probably isn't freaking out, much less AWARE of, this brouhaha over shifting the day.

And feedback outside of DU and the MSM is that Boehner is the one perceived as being massively disrespectful because he went PUBLIC with his rebuff of the original date rather than working it all out behind closed doors with the WH.
