I think Rick Perry is extremely dangerous
He has the potential to be our Hitler. Already, he's driven by God, wants to end the income tax, and wants the U.S. Constitution to deny gays the right to marry. This is going to be a scary force to reckon with. They are criminals. If the economy tanks, Perry will be able to pursue a dangerously right-wing agenda. This Tea Party Gang at a high level is driven by deep rooted racists who want to purify America. They are the ones who fear that whites have lower birth rates than other races.

From Wikipedia (about Hitler's rise to power)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_Hitler

Brüning's (the Chancellor before Hitler) budgetary and financial austerity measures brought little economic improvement and were extremely unpopular. Hitler exploited this weakness by targeting his political messages specifically to the segments of the population that had been hard hit by the inflation of the 1920s and the unemployment of the Depression, such as farmers, war veterans, and the middle class.

2. your assuming he has won the rethug nomination my bet is still on Romney
but you could be right if he gets the nomination and the Corporate media starts kissing his ass and giving him favorable news over Obama like they did to Bush over Gore

4. Romney Is A Mormon And From Massachusetts
Romney is a Mormon and from Massachusetts. A LOT of the GOP base comes from the former Confederate States and from areas where Southern culture has taken root (such as Oklahoma, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Kansas). That part of the GOP base tends to be Evangelical Protestant Christian and sees Romney's Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints as a cult and Romney as a heretic (If you don't think that religion isn't an important component of the GOP mindset, do you remember the right-wing BS about President Obama being a secret Muslim?). Also, while most DU'ers see the Civil War as being long-dead and long-gone, Romney's being a northerner won't play well in the Dixie redoubts of today's Republican Party, especially when there's a Southerner alternative.

21. I cannot and will not in good conscience give unqualified support to this administration
Edited on Sat Aug-13-11 03:39 PM by Douglas Carpenter
To me that would be immoral.

However, I can and I will give unqualified support to insuring that the Republicans do not win in 2012 even if that means being less than honest and forthcoming about my feeling about this administrations. If misleading people is the price that must be paid to insure that the Republicans are defeated in November 2012 - then that is the price that must be paid.

Or alternatively I could explain to people that although I do not agree with this administration and do not consider them liberal or progressive - I still believe that they are a lot less dangerous than the alternative.

I'm not sure which tactic is the best to employ. But whatever it takes - whether by nuance or by deception we must all do what we can to insure the Republicans are defeated.

26. Who do you think runs the country now?
The rulers can control Obama. And Obama keeps the people calm.

Any office holder can be whipped, but their effect on the people can drive them over the top.

Even Democrats that talk about jobs are ignoring the realities of automation. What I'm saying is that changes are needed that are totally ignored by all the Republicans and almost all of the Democrats. Even with renewing infrastructure, the demand for work does not meet needs of people to survive. Different methods of distribution must be considered or we will devolve to feudalism.

Obama is there to metastasize the process. A Perry or Bachmann could upset the process, like Wisconsin. Well almost. People aren't mad enough yet.

7. Any one of the Republican candidates is dangerous.
It's just a question of degree as to who would be more dangerous.

We would be totally screwed with any one, however. Never doubt that for a second.

8. His notion of secession should be broadcast loudly. That is frightening in itself.
The fact that he dislikes America enough to want his home out of it should be exposed. Like Palin, these people are not really Americans in the true sense. They are outsiders who don't like the country, and either want to leave it, or alter it to suit them.

16. Which is why it SHOULD be easy to beat him. The choice SHOULD be clear...
Only the prez himself could lose against Perry - by continuing his bipartisanshit and failing to draw clear tough distinctions between himself and the extreme and dangerous Perry.

18. oh he's no Hitler. But if he really does believe that particular version of fundamentalism that he
publicly identifies with. - Then he believes that to prepare for the return of Jesus Chris - America MUST provoke a cataclysmic world war against the Arab and Islamic world to insure that the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is destroyed and the Temple of David is rebuilt - It does not take a lot of imagination to grasp what the consequences of what that would be.

We can only hope and PRAY that Gov. Perry is really only a phoney and a piss artist and that he is taking his fundamentalist supporters for a ride. Because if that is not the case - than we are all truly in great danger.

Like you have all this week without rest,
Since it may be the only thing you know how to do, at this point.
You'll just have to swallow your just desserts when they are served to
you. If it's Perry, well, you worked hard for that result thus far.
