About this Romney Character.....
Edited on Tue Aug-09-11 07:02 PM by FrenchieCat
Can anyone help me understand by answering some below questions.....

Chris Matthews was discussing that it was reported that the Obama campaign was planning on "destroying" Mitt Romney via personal attacks on his weirdness and unauthenticity...
and that this is based on a Politico news story, is that right?

so my Questions are:

Why would the Obama campaign release this information at all? And why now?

Who does it serve best to release this information now, Pres. Obama or Romney or Perry?

I don't go to Politico's website, so can someone fill us in on their sources in this story....?
The specific attributions, I mean.

Could this story popping up have anything to do with a straw poll and squinty eye Bush doppelganger Texas Governor set to announce?

If Obama can be dogged about his citizenship and be portrayed as the anti-Christ, Hitler,
an other, anti-American, and everything else, for over two fucking years...why is Romney crying?

When did negative campaigning mean anything odious to a Republican?

Thanks for any assistance on this.... :hi:

1. i was wondering the same thing
maybe messing with the GOP primary, or psyching out people that might give money to Romney. Or maybe firing up Obama supporters.

2. I think you've hit the nail on the head
It works well to Obama's advantage if the fundies split between Bachmann and Perry.

3. And what makes some blog named Politico
a reliable honest source of anything.

Momma sez not to believe everything you read online.

5. wondering the same thing about the link. here is
my post from yesterday:

Who the hell leaked??

NOTE THE NUMBER OF "ADVISORS" MENTIONED IN THE POLITICO STORY. IT IS CONFUSING WHO AND HOW MANY THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. AND THEY MENTION MULTIPLE INTERVIEWS. VERY MYSTERIOUS.

Edited on Tue Aug-09-11 06:04 PM by Laura PourMeADrink

“Unless things change and Obama can run on accomplishments, he will have to kill Romney,” said a prominent Democratic strategist aligned with the White House.

The onslaught would have two aspects. The first is personal: Obama’s reelection campaign will portray the public Romney as inauthentic, unprincipled and, in a word used repeatedly by Obama’s advisers in about a dozen interviews, “weird.”

“First, they’ve got to like you, and there’s not a lot to like about Mitt Romney,” said Chicago Democratic consultant Pete Giangreco, who worked on Obama’s 2008 campaign. “There’s no way to hide this guy and hide his innate phoniness.”

A senior Obama adviser was even more cutting, suggesting that the Republican’s personal awkwardness will turn off voters.

“There’s a weirdness factor with Romney, and it remains to be seen how he wears with the public,” the adviser said, noting that the contrasts they’d drive between the president and the former Massachusetts governor would be “based on character to a great extent.”

HOW MANY PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH OBAMA ARE TALKING HERE???

6. It sounds like standard campaign strategizing
Any campaign would be looking at all the scenarios and possible lines of attack in their brainstorming.

Doesn't necessarily mean they'll follow up or not. But presumably they are looking at all of the strengths and vulnerabilities of all potential candidates. And, since Romney has both a "serious businessman" image and an image of being kind of weird and phony, both are factors in the campaign.

Seems like the talk that always goes on around the table. No big deal. The real issue is how it got leaked to the public and why and by whom.

7. Its ok to call the black guy weird, different, anti-American, not one of us ....
say he hates the white culture, loves terrorists, is a Muslim, who is also like Mao and Stalin, and Hitler, and who simultaneously and elitist, socialist, commie, fascist.

But don't dare say that Mitt seems "unusually formal" most of the time. Or that he jokes tend to fall flat.

That's mean.

8. THIS POLITICO STORY PISSED ME OFF...
Edited on Wed Aug-10-11 07:03 AM by SkyDaddy7
It is not negative campaigning to point out how many times Romney has changed his mind depending on what he was running for! It is not politics of personal destruction to point out Romney had someone in his family die from an illegal abortion & the things he said about it.

It is OK to call Obama a Kenyan but it is personal destruction to actually be truthful about who Romney really is...And the answer to that is NO ONE HAS A FUCKING CLUE!
