Rick Perry is a George W. clone........
I had not seem him speak before and saw a clip last night.

He is a clone of W! Talk. mannerisms, etc.

There is no way the American public will elect a guy like that again.

Also, he is more of a religious nut than W was.

I hope he is the nominee. It will make our job of keeping the GOP out of the White House easier.

today is rain. I hate to say it, but I hope like hell it doesn't rain for a while. I don't know if I could put up with their smug bs.

12. he was on Bill Maher last night...
Edited on Sat Aug-06-11 03:10 PM by awoke_in_2003
he is singularly unimpressive. Neil deGrass Tyson, on the other hand, was as impressive as he always is.

on edit: I just saw he is going to be hosting a sequel to Carl Sagan's "Cosmos". I am glad I finally got a DVR

4. He reminds me more of Reagan
He has that phony cowboy persona. He is like a caricature of a real human. Robotic like Reagan.

I have this sinking feeling that he is their next nominee. God help us if he wins.

8. I disagree
He in fact is Obama's most dangerous opponent.

He has all the bonafides that the right wing likes. (Unlike a Huntsman or Romney)

He has things the independents like as well like being a sitting gov of a large state. (that ole experience factor) Its also a state that's bucking the trend and doing well economically so he can use the experience argument at every turn.

In a general he will make himself sound moderate and being the gov of a very rich state he will rake in the money to campaign.

Unless he has a skeleton in his closet I think he is far and away the most dangerous.

And keep in mind that stuff about talk and mannerism-Well they elected Bush 2x with this stuff.

15. "Its also a state that's bucking the trend and doing well economically" Really?
Then why did he need to take that check from the feds to balance his budget?

Remember--perception is reality. And the corollary--messaging determines perception.

21. Perry is, if possible, dumber and MORE falsely pious than GW.
Dubya ran as a moderate in 2000--the "happy warrior", the "compassionate conservative". You'd think that the fact that he had to qualify "conservative" should have clued people into the fact that the ideology doesn't give a shit about people by default, but there you are.
