but how typical.

Obama talking, pointing out the big picture.
Boehner posturing and talking over Obama, about himself
Cantor interjecting
McConnell figuring and weasiling the information.

All in front of cups of Tea? Is that some subliminal message?

6. why do you assume this is not coffee?
while there might be one drinking tea, it is far more likely they are serving coffee.

White House Debt Deal Chow: Coffee & Apples
The debt and deficit battle was lo-cal and caffeinated, according to behind-the-scenes White House photos...

The White House has released a new "Debt and Deficit Negotiations" Flickr photo set with behind-the-scenes images of Congressional Leaders in a series of meeting with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House during the July weeks of default drama. According to the photos, coffee and apples seem to have been the only fuel for the battle over raising the debt ceiling and cutting federal expenditures. In advance of the debate, the lawmakers in the photos were all at the White House on May 2nd for a bipartisan dinner, where they were served far more elaborate fare. Above, having Cabinet Room coffee on July 13, from left are: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

13. Okay...

It's just artfully composed photo with some uncanny image metaphors... It doesn't matter what was actually in the cups if you view the photo as art... It LOOKS like a tea party in the image... It's also unlikely that Obama was actually painting a big picture scenario at the same moment that Boehner was saying something greedy and selfish while Cantor was trying to be noticed... But, that's what it all looks like from that snapshot at that moment in time... Interpretation is subjective.

I will choose to ignore what was actually in the cups whenever I enjoy looking at that photo. ;-)
