Obama Plans Mid-August Bus Tour of Midwest to Focus on Jobs
Obama Plans Mid-August Bus Tour of Midwest to Focus on Jobs
By Roger Runningen and Julianna Goldman - Aug 3, 2011 8:27 AM ET

President Barack Obama plans a bus tour of the Midwest the week of Aug. 15 with a focus on jobs, a White House official said.

Jennifer Psaki, the White House deputy communications director, confirmed a report in today’s New York Times but didn’t offer any additional details. The president, after signing deficit-reduction legislation yesterday, said he would be turning his attention to “new jobs, higher wages and faster economic growth.”

13. He was on TV at least 4 times in a week to push the awful debt ceiling bill.
He forced Senators and Representatives to meet with him DAILY to get that piece of crap passed.

Why isn't he fighting as hard for the job bills?

Bingo! We have a winner! Obama knows how to twist arms! But not for anything to really help the average American, the little people. All you little people need to vote and then STFU!

14. Go write Senator Franken and ask him to explain how Medicare/SS are protected.
Otherwise, now you're pissing on the fact that he's talking jobs after he was forced to push Congress to do its job?

Whatever.

3. He's the President.
Not a candidate for office. Instead of talking, how about actually doing something? The time for bus tours is over.

20. Fool.
Free trade agreements destroy jobs. They do not create them except in China. The whole free trade theory is absolute proven bullshit.

4. Last night Rachel Maddow says that the debt deal just passed will cost America
about 1.8 million jobs by the time it expires.

So is Obama focusing on creating or losing jobs?

9. My question is how with federal austerity and inability to put anything more towards stimulus
do you create more jobs. What can we do to compell businesses tostart hiring?????

12. You know I think the truth is that things won't get that much better re: jobs
because Capital has learned to stress workers 2x and keep more profits.

That's the core problem to me, that and outsourcing.

agreements he's been pushing?

16. A day late and 1.5 trillion dollars short
Too late, Mr. President.

That's why you shouldn't buy into Republican memes from the beginning...talking about the need to reduce the deficit right now while the economy is extremely fragile.

Also, stop with the nonsense about business confidence. Just another Republicon supply side meme.

19. Is it a Mexican bus?
You know, because he just allowed free access to American roads by Mexican owned trucking companies with Mexican drivers. Will he be touting how many jobs all his free trade agreements with South Korea and other countries are destroying in the US?

Perhaps he will be proud of all the government workers he will be pink slipping because of his great bargaining skills in cutting the budget?

Is he going to call it "I'm half as good as Herbert Hoover" tour?
