One reason Tea Party gets away w/their mess is they create havoc amongst Democrats
I'm finding the response to the debt ceiling deal very interesting. As angry as many of us are, we are focusing most of the rage in the wrong direction. Certainly, folks have a right to be unhappy with how the President handled this matter. But why are people directing virtually all of the anger and vitriol at him rather than the people who created this mess?

The Tea Party does its dirt and then watches us tear our President and each other apart. Not only must it be enormously gratifying to them to see us rip at each other this way, they also reap the benefits of the media focusing on it . . . and then, as an extra added bonus, they have loads of quotes and examples to use in their own attacks against the President: "Don't listen to what we say . . . listen to what DEMOCRATS are saying!"

And, have no doubt . . . as the primaries ramp up, the Republican candidates will take the "Obama is WEAK!" meme and run with it like bats out of hell. That has been their mantra all along and we are shoring up their message without them having to do a thing.

It's really unfortunate that our default response seems to be to turn on each other rather than focus our efforts on the people who are really causing the problem. And it's really a shame that we haven't figured out a way to express our displeasure without resorting to - or providing new - Republican talking points.

1. Who is this "we"
I think the subject of the "Obama is WEAK" meme has been shoring it up all by himself very well.

2. Agreed.
The teabaggers make me angry but they are supposed to, they believe in everything I do not however Obama is supposed to support democratic principles as I do but he does not. The Teabaggers are not making me angry with Obama, Obama is making me angry with Obama.

3. We are simple and naive if we assume they are not toying with us too...
Unfortunately, many folks on here are all too willing to assume that hurling insults at the President and the Democrats will do anything other than destroy the party from the inside out.

I wonder how many so-called progressives that are constantly attacking the President here are actually on the Koch payroll.

5. K&R!!!! You are absolutely right! It's so amazing to me. I'm still trying to figure
out how DU expects the president to be liberal when he has to deal with wingnuts in the House.

Those suffering from ODS cannot explain how they plan to get Paul Krugman's grant scheme through the U.S. House of Representatives.

Many of are pissed at the "centrist" Democrats (NOT at all Democratsc) for basicaly working against liberalism and advancing the conservative corporate agenda.

And pretty words from Obama and others don't make up for the results of their actions.

7. Oh, you'll get the "It's not my fault I'm playing into the GOP's hands" posts.
'Obama's incompetence made me do it. What else could I do? I HAVE to trumpet my discontent daily on the internet to feed the MSM/RW troll machine!'

10. They never get that, do they?
They post all day and night about how awful and stupid and fringe progressives are, then they complain about party disunity and blame...guess who!

9. Absolutely. +1
This helps only the Republicans and the Tea Party, to the point where you have to wonder if they are behind it. Like Rove, and attack their strengths, this is the sort of thing the dirty fighting right considers clever.

12. It also helps our 3rd party friends.
Who have quite the numbers on a Democratic forum. Nothing like dividing us and sowing discontent before recruiting attempts.

11. How about this as feeding a GOP Talking Point? "We're liberals and don't agree with the GOP."
Let's feed into THAT GOP Talking Point....And mean it.
